Streak still alive?

That's not the point of your post and you know it. You're trying to antagonize fans of a team that you're supposed to not care about. Are you so insecure that you need some sort of verification of how awesome you are because you cheer for a successful college athletics team? This has to be the saddest thread ever created on this site. I'm actually beginning to feel sorry for you. You must have a terrible life to need this boost. I'll give it to you and consider it my good deed for the day. You sir are a winner because you cheer for a winning college football program. Congratulations!

Yeah, thats what I was doing:rolleyes:.
ps I cheer for Iowa basketball as well...

Yes it is all us Hawk fans can talk about...or just one (AmesHawk).

* You guys are like bees to honey when a Hawk troll comes in.

AmesHawk isn't a troll - he provides well-needed and meaningful balance and perspective to this site (or so some of the Mods tell us). :skeptical:

I lost a little respect for him is all. And look back on any previous posts Ive had, I don't troll, I am pretty respectful. When I started this thread I wanted to know what everyone thought about the subject, not to rub it in or anything, thats why I waited three days after the game to ask. I got a few good responses back where people actually responded with something to say, most well... not so much
I still don't believe you, and who cares if you lost a little respect for him, he's not your coach. If he wanted to keep the starters in, that's his business and he must have had a reason for it. I played for his dad in high school, and I'll tell you why Cecil did it, to teach and to instill a little bit of confidence when things aren't going your way. Arnaud had a terrible game, so if he stayed in too long for your liking to gain a positive, good. Next time try phrasing your question in a tone that doesn't make you out to be such a DB. You may have thought you were funny, but it's that kind of crap that leaves a bad taste in my mouth for you and your other Hawkeye friends.

Just wanted to know some of your opinions on the final touchdown of the game.
Personally I thought it was pretty bush league. Starters (with #2 RB) in with a couple of minutes left down 35. I would have liked to hear Rhoads explanation if AA or a lineman went down.

Not trying to get everyone upset or rub salt on any wounds, but I don't see the point of keeping the starters in at all against mostly 3rd string RS Freshman & Sophomores to break a streak. Just wanted to know what you guys were thinking.

I think I will put the streak to an end, but with a *.
I could only stomach two pages of this great thread but it sounds like you are ****** that Iowa State ran up the score when they were getting shut out.

A win is a win and a touchdown a touchdown. No one forced ferentz to pull any starters. Enjoy your win and move on. I would think all hawk fans would have bigger things to worry about this year. This is the same as when we beat you, "well, isu won the score but we were the better team.". Same as, "well, isu scored but only because we let them."

Now I can sleep at night that this has been resolved. I don't see anything wrong with it. ISU was trying to gain anything positive from otherwise a terrible day. If ISU was up 35-0, I wouldn't like it. Much like when iowa played east. ill. Throwing tds in the 4th q with stanzi, the starter.

Red flag for trolls is when they tell you they aren't one.

I have never understood why Iowa fans bragged about ISU not scoring a touchdown in X amount of years. We beat them during that time. It's like telling a guy who just beat your A** that he still isn't tough enough because he didn't knock you out as you are beleeding from the nose and mouth.

Yep. I would have loved Johnson to break one of his good kick returns. What would have been the argument then. "well, ISU's offense hasn't scored a td in xx amount of quarters" A td is a td, no matter vs who is in the game or how it is scored. Dosen't ISU have a 1 quarter streak on them now?

If I kicked you while you were down by just asking what you thought of your coach leaving in starters that late in a game, than you take it a little to seriously.

Were we really supposed to just lay down and die because your starters are out!?! Maybe Rhoads was trying to get AA a touchdown pass so he had a little confidence for K St. Your precious little streak is over. Get over it.

Did they score a TD? Was it included in the game stats and on the final scoreboard?

Why is this even a topic of conversation? Oh wait, I know. It's because a top-ten ranking and a sound defeat of their in-state rivals isn't good enough for Hawk fans to overcome their perpetual insecurity about the size of their collective johnson, so they have to unearth ways to rub this in our faces days later.

Iowa fans are just such small people. I'll never figure it out.

I don't really have a problem with the touchdown. I'm more disappointed with the response by Rhoads in the press conference. When Rhoads got the job I was told by a couple of people that know him that he's a great guy but he has a couple of issues. One of those issues is that he's very thin skinned. I didn't see that during the first year but it reared it's ugly head with his first statement.

Can't believe this is still going. Most Iowa fans I know who even know about the streak have moved on. You know what we care about more with regard to the game and streaks? The 3 game win streak we now have going. Much better than going...what...4-1 or something during the TD streak? What if the final score had been 3-2, in favor of ISU? Sure we kept them out of the endzone again, but we would have lost.

Yeah, it sucked we gave up that TD, but it was more along the lines "Oh...it would have been awesome to keep them out of the endzone for just a bit more" rather than "HOW DARE THEY RUIN OUR ILLUSTRIOUS TD STREAK?!"

As for keeping his starters in....I don't see what Rhoads did as 'bush league'. His team was getting dominated, and if by keeping his starters in, and scoring a TD would help his team bounce back, then there's nothing wrong with that. The only concern I ever have with teams (both winning and losing) keeping starters in late in a game that's been decided is the entire injury issue.

Perfect post.

Small sample size, but I think this is what happens a lot.

AmesHawk apparently loves the no TD streak.
edr247 and myself do not care.

33% of Hawks fans make 66% look bad.

I have no problem with keeping starters in...what did CPR say/do?

To the OP: Congrats on the worst thread of the day!

A touchdown is a touchdown. Doesn't matter how it happens. The streak is over.

As a Hawk fan you should care about the fact Iowa won. Who cares that the streak is over? Yea it was kind of fun to hold over Cyclone friends of mine, but at the end of the day the win is the only thing that's important.

And no, keeping his starters in was not "bush league" by Rhoads. Now, if Ferentz would have done that with the lead Iowa had, THAT would be bush league.

I will say I was surprised he kept key guys like Arnaud, Sims, and ARob in the whole game. Fortunately no one got hurt and they finally started to gel at the end of the game.

Exactly. Rhoads' one and only mission is to win games...just like any FB coach. If leaving Arnaud in to work out the obvious kinks helps ISU beat KSU, then he needs to do it...regardless of what any opposing fans think about it.
