I could be completely off base here, but with his blocking skills, power running, and lack of breakaway speed, I think Stevie would be a dynamic fullback rather than just a good running back. I'm not sure if our offense would be the best for it, because the fullback is only in when it's an obvious run play. Nothing at all against Koch because he is a great fullback for what he is used for. But Stevie could add another option out of backfield and could also catch the occasional pass.

We've trimmed Hicks down over the years, made him lose a lot of weight so he can be quicker. It's too late for him to be fullack. You want a 3rd and 2 guy at fullback. Stevie is not a 3rd and 2 kid.

Josh Johnson only has one carry this year for six yards. Jason Scales is 16 for 63 yards. Stevie is 84 for 394 yards. Bret is 75 for 178 yards. Koch has 14 attempts for 30 yards. This is our five headed back.

I can't figure out why we are not using Ryan Kock more when we need short yardage. He was gold last season, now Mac doesn't use him as often in short yardage.

Our offensive coordinator came into the season with a poor offensive plan, and now he's grasping at straws trying to get something to work! I'd like to see a little more I-formation with Koch at fullback and Scales at tailback; run some sweeps, for example; run some play action. Do something to deceive the defense.

Stevie would not be a good fullback, runs way too high. If you watch Kock, he is a low runner and bounces off tackles, Stevie would just get stacked up, or dance too much and get tackled for a loss. I do, however, like the idea of some I formation and some play action passing.

Sorry, we don't have any 2 back formations in our playbook. But don't worry, because running out of the shotgun gives us all of the flexibility we need with 3 different running plays.

You say we need more plays and more formations to deceive the defense. I say that making our kids learn more plays is only going to confuse them! Let's keep it simple.

Coach Cotton, is that you?

Keeping it simple for our offense keeps it simple for the defense!

We may have the most simple offense in the Big 12. Now that our offense is older, can we go on to junior high? For one thing, running the same pro set over and over again makes practivce simple for the opponent. Wait, after watching the fake fieldgoal play run into basic defense, better keep it simple.
