I voted "jury still out". We made the sweet 16 which is great, but we played 2 double-digit seeds to get there. Still a very good accomplishment. However, we finished 6th in our conference with a very talented roster. I am looking forward to next year!

This is a pretty ******* stupid point. We earned a 4 seed which means that one of our games had to be against a double digit seed. Would you have been happier if we had earned a 7 seed with our regular season and made it to the Sweet 16?

I would have been happier if we earned a 2 seed which our talent was capable of. And thanks for calling me stupid, you are a ray of sunshine on my Easter Sunday. God bless.

Probably a B. Was cool that he righted the ship a bit and held players accountable. Maybe there would have been a few more wins if he put his foot down earlier, but who knows.

Anyone complaining about the early exit in the Big 12 tourney has bad memories of less than likely/dominant come backs under Hoiberg, along with not winning a conference tourney game until 2014 IIRC.

Hopefully defense becomes a strength or the success at ISU will level off at about what it's been the last 5 years, which isn't a bad thing, but it will likely get a bad reaction from fans since it's not Hoiberg.

Like Charles Barkley just said after the Syracuse vs UVA game. The difference between the good coaches and the great coaches are those that can make successfull in game adjustments.
Does that describe SP from anything I saw this year? Nope.
Not to many D1 coaches couldn't have got 6th place in a 10 team league.
Lost the 1st round of the Big 12 T.
Beat 2 double digits seeds with this line up.
The only time all year I thought he did something brilliant was the inbound play vs OU. Otherwise I don't see how anyone can give him above a C right now. Some of his end of game coaching was atrocious.

Syracuse did play Virginia previously in the year, little easier to prepare.

Holy smokes you're tough to impress! The only brilliant thing he did in 35 games was an inbounds pass? Wow...

If we had earned a 2 seed it is very likely that we wouldn't have beat a team that wasn't double digits to get to the Sweet 16 too, so you would have complained about that as well.

If you want to complain that we should have gotten a 2 seed that's one thing. But your post was ******** about only beating 2 10+ seeds to get the Sweet 16. Steve Prohm and the team EARNED the right to play at least 1 double digit seed in the tournament. I contend it IS stupid to complain about that.

Even though I agree with most of your post, Charles Barkley isn't helping your argument.

I was not complaining about anything. I'm very happy we made it to the sweet 16! I was saying that we had an easier road to the sweet 16 than most, therefor it isn't quite as impressive of an accomplishment in my opinion as it would have been if we would have beat someone with talent near our level.

Coach Prohm had previously proven he could beat teams at the level of Arkansas Little Rock and Iona while at Murray State. How would he have done against a 5 seed? We don't know, that's why I say the jury is still out.

and prohm proved he could beat a 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 8, and 8 seed in the regular season. I think that means he'd have a shot against a 5 in the tournament.

How many away from Hilton or in a win or go home situation?

Agree. You're right on target. We earned the 4 seed. Happy to get to the Sweet 16. But beating Ark LR and Iona was not a major accomplishment because, despite their records, those two teams are not anywhere close to power five conference talent.

Purdue disagrees.

His offense was better than Fred's was without the best shooter on the team. Think about that.

I know no one ever reads that fact and changes their opinion even when their opinion is that of a third graders basketball intellect, but I'm still going to use it because it's important.

I'll also say that I don't think our fanbase can handle success in the long run. This past year has been brutal when actually trying to talk about basketball with our fans.

2.

Again, he could only beat who was in front of him and he did. He lost to a number 1 seed. That's life. That's how the tournament ends for all teams.

I simply think it is stupid to ***** about how we got to the sweet 16. We got there. "Genius" coaches like bob Huggins, Scott drew, Shaka smart, tom izzo didn't. They all lost to the double digit seeds that you are bashing prohm for beating.
