Steele Jantz

I'm curious how you can tell who the primary receiver is? Just because he looks at one guy first doesn't mean it's the primary receiver. Also, the primary receiver can change based on the pre-snap read and/or what happens just after the snap. Without knowing the design of the play I'm not sure how you can tell who the primary is.

He has ESP

Im ready to see a Steele Jantz explosion this game... so much potential to do some really great things... Im ready to see him really gain some confidence and show everybody what hes truly capable of... Seriously hoping for a monster game outta him...

I'm enjoying the hell out of this win and don't want to rain on any parades, but Steele Jantz has never started a game for Iowa State and finished with zero turnovers. I have a difficult time blaming the play calling.
Good post, JB starts we win by +21...Steele missed Horne twice by overthrowing and one he flat didn't see him. Someone mentioned Steele has started out 2-0 and won't get benched, well last year he started out 3-0 and eventually got benched...watched the game twice now and each time I'm ****** at SJ. Playcalling was great. If SJ plays like he did against Iowa in the Big XII, we don't win any of them. Thankfully he gets tonight to redeem himself. He better learn to take the heat.

SJ got injured and wasnt up to snuff after the uconn win.

Random thought - with next years recruits, it's possible JB doesn't start another game. Not saying he never will, but it's possible.

How many players can say they went to a school such as Iowa State and say, as a frosh, they beat the #2 team in the country, and after that year, never played again.

Barnett would have beat Iowa by 21 pts.

This is such a redicdulous comment. There is no way to know that. Anyone remember JB turning the ball over 3 times last year in the OSU game? He threw a pick six, fumbled down around the 20, then threw a pick at the end of the game that probably should have cost us the game. He was also really bad in the OU and Rutgers games. Now, ISU would not have won the OSU game without his otherwise wonderful performance. But who is to say JB wouldnt pull an OU or a Rutgers and not be able to score? Or maybe he would have played worse than Steele and had three turnovers anyway. Impossible to know. Iowa would have done different things, ISU would have done different things.

And let's not forget Brun dropped a catachable ball in the end zone, Johnson fumbled at the goal line. Steele at least got us down to the goal line 5 times against Iowa. Who knows for sure if JB could have done better, maybe, maybe not.

Right. They both had plenty of turnover problems. Other players had turnover problems. There's no rational guarantee that Barnett does better at all.

Absolutely idiotic and foolish to think Barnett would have by default been able to lead a blowout win over Iowa.

WTF is that based on? Barnett's ability to not turn the ball over? His Jedi mind tricks so other guys would not drop passes or fumble the ball?

Dumb.

FTR - I'm not overly impacted on which guy starts - but this thread is getting ridiculous.

This has actually crossed my mind. There isn't a doubt in my mind that we have another qb competition similar to the last few years next summer. :spinny:

Anyone else think with Howard out, Brun gets some major playing time? He in theory is perfect for Jantz and he throws high much of the time.

first off playcalling was awful and incredibly predictable, and if barnett would have played iowa would just totally load the box since he cant throw past 15 yards... they would have stuffed the run completely cuz they wouldnt have to respect his arm... you are not even close on this one... i think if barnett played we would have been the ones held without a td..

I think Barnett had 13 fumbles last year. He's not above giving Iowa enough points to beat us.

Edit: Make that 11 fumbles. Point still stands though. Plus, it's not like he's gonna magically make the ZR work against Iowa, even though he is better at it.
