Steele Jantz JUCO QB

That's fine. We need a pass first, run second type of QB.

Completely agree cyclonedave.....if we had an offensive system that didnt rely on the qb carrying the ball 20 times a game maybe our senior qb would have been there our final game......

To me its really hard to evaluate this kid because he never throws into a tight window....every throw is to a guy that is wide open....he will not have such luxury at ISU...

For me - IMO....to properly evaluate our qb situation its based on two things.
1. Does the qb make the right reads of the defense.
2. Can we find 1-2 guys that can make plays in the WR corp? the guys that are "Supposed" to be "The Guys" are simply not making plays and not giving the qb a window larger then a 5 gallon bucket to throw into.....

To further this point, in the missouri game nearly the entire 2nd half the missouri safety was in the camera shot...that tells me like every other team we played this year....they had ZERO respect for us over the top.....just so everyone realizes....its easy to defend 15 yards!!!!!

Give me those two things and your qb play will be better....until then, dont matter how many qb's you bring in.......

Cam McDaniel?? He was just here for a visit and is going to Notre Dame, I believe. :twitcy:

I think you mean Cam Newton.

You are correct. Thanks for the heads up. Aging is hell on the mind.

yeah, but what about DT? We have none and are running out of ships. Most schools struggle to recruit that position, but it seems none more so than us.

Agreed. Look at what Wally has done with the talent we have. Imagine what he could do if DT/DE was the focus.

FWIW, I heard Jeremy Crabtree on 1620 here in Omaha a couple weeks ago talking recruiting, and the first caller asked about o-line/d-line prospects for ISU. Crabtree basically said that the 2011 class is very thin at the DL position, and that most teams, other than the big names, were going to have to develop guys rather than recruit them.

Really, this is nothing new for ISU. There's only so many DL/DE to go around, this year fewer than usual, so we're going to have to move guys to the position and hopefully develop them.

If we bring in a JUCO and he can start, hopefully Capello steps in as the #2 man and then Tiller can see the field at another position.

QB is probably the position that has the greatest individual impact on the success or failure of a team.

Look at the turn around at Texas A & M after their QB change. Look at the success of Auburn after they bought Cam Newton.

We need to find an impact player at the QB position.

This post said it all. Well done.

You are right, I will stop with the truth telling. Can someone bring me 5 gallons of kool-aid please? :twitcy:

What flavor would you like? If you want black & gold kool-aid you are going to have to wait because I heard it is being recalled due to the efforts of Jon Miller and Giggles after Iowa's mediocre season. :biglaugh:

Couldn't hurt to bring him in for some competition at the very least. I'd much rather have a QB who has been developed in-house from his freshman year on, but if this kid can play then suit him up.

His video isn't all that impressive. Barnetts hs film looked better. Its all about reading the D and making the right decision. You can't see that on highlight tapes. I think Tiller will get the job if he can make better decisions once he starts getting a lot more snaps in practice.

Big, elusive, strong and accurate arm, and throws well rolling out in either direction. What's not to like about this guy? Who's after him?

His team will play for the California state championship this weekend against Mt. SAC.
