All I want is the Blu-ray set of all 6 films that will retail fall 2011. George can keep his crappy 3D.

The only good things that came out of the prequels were 1.Darth Maul and the double light saber, 2.We got to see Yoda and the Emperor fighting, and 3.We learned a lot about the Obi-Wan character. That's pretty much it. Everything else Lucas basically f'd up.
Maybe JJ abrams can do a star wars now that he has fixed star trek.
Anyone else tired of Lucas the hack making more money off of stuff he already made by releasing it over and over and over..... Here is an idea. Lets make a new trilogy without lucas and focus on a new generation of Jedi's. Create a whole other phenomenon. Kids of today will really only know the bastardized versions of the classics we loved.
New generation of Jedi's doesn't do it for me. Why did people like Luke in the originals? Because the fact that he was the only one with special powers and a bad *** lightsaber made him cool and made up for the fact that he could be just as whiny as his dad. Part of the problem with the prequels that people don't talk about was that there were too many damn Jedi running around.
I'd actually be down for a reboot. I think if you did it on TV as a mini-series (or multiple mini-series) where you could take more chances and not have to make it a special effects orgy.
I was going to rip this statement, because I was figuring there just HAD to be some more redeeming qualities to I-III than you were giving credit for, but the more I thought about it, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Of course they had to do a love story between Anakin and Padme in order for there to be a Luke and Leia, but it was way too cheezy and completely overdone. In fact, Anakin was basically just a whiny ***** through all three movies to the point where he didn't deserve the sheer number of midichlorians that coursed through his body.
I dont know, some new story arc could be good if done right, but Im sure noone wants to touch that. If they screw it up they are marked for life. I think a reboot would be a huge chance as well. Something needs to happen, Lucas is pretty close to killing the whole thing for me with these rereleases and ****** prequels.

Amen, brother. Brought me back to life.Maybe JJ abrams can do a star wars now that he has fixed star trek.
You actually made me think of more:
#11:Midichlorians. Dumbest idea ever. Why not leave just a LITTLE mystery to it?
#12: Anakin turning. He goes from conflicted to "I'm going to kill every jedi in the galaxy in the span of a few minutes? Lame.
#13: NOOOOO!!
#14: She died of a broken heart.
Honestly, I think Lucas will have to kick the bucket before anything good happens with Star Wars. I definitely think the potential is there though to pull a "Star Trek" if (probably when) they finally turn people off the original. The only problem is that kids these days don't know that the new stuff sucks so they can keep churning out crap to them.
Reasons the prequels and redone OT sucked:
10. The stupid arena scene in E2 ruined that movie. Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme all riding around on the same animal? Stupid.
9. Boba Fett is now a kiwi? And so are all the stormtroopers? Come on.
8. Jabba in E3 looks fake and lame. They were better off leaving that part out.
7. Is there REALLY a need for all the burping and farting?
6. With all the effect additions, they still couldn't find a way to get rid of that weird black thing on the Emperor's hood in ROTJ?
5. The battle droids are goofy. Why?
4. No Han Solo character-type in the prequels. They had the perfect chance to do something like this with Bail Organa, but chose to make him older and gayer.
3. Age difference between Anakin and Padme. In E1, she looks 15 and he looks 8. In E2, they both look 17. How did he age 9 years while she aged 2? Bad casting.
2. Jar Jar Binks. The droids were plenty of comic relief for the OT. Why the need for the tripping, falling idiot?
1. Greedo shooting first? WTF! totally removes some of the coolness and mistique from the Han Solo character.

This 3D upgrade is going to be anything but a "rush job". It's a frame by frame slog. They said 2012 for the first one and won't guarantee that. BTW, the older movies are going to be even tougher to convert.
Pretty much spot on, but could you elaborate or post a picture of #6, never noticed it before.
#15 I think people could have forgiven like 90% of the crap in the prequels if Lucas had just delivered a bad *** final duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan, but he couldn't resist the urge to throw in stupid CGI site gags and dialogue like, "From my point of view the Jedi are evil".
Exactly. I doubt it will be as good as ones filmed in 3D, but it will beat out movies that got 3D dumped on them 2 months prior to release.
We're going to start seeing this all over the place. Old movies re-release in 3D. I'm sure movies like LotR, Twister, Jurassic Park, Titanic would make a fortune in a re-release even with crappy 3D.
For that matter, why don't they re-release more movies in just normal mode. A 2-week showing of Jurassic Park or Titanic across the country would make a fortune, with next to no up front cost. I'd pay money to see some old movies on the big screen. Twister, Back to the Future, the Die Hards. I'd go see some of them.
