Interesting that the Grand Inquisitor apparently survives a lightsaber to the chest, yet Qui-Gon didn't.

I don't remember seeing the light sabre go through his chest...but I get your point. I'm sure nobody is really ever "dead" in Disney controlled content.
Just got through episode 3 of Obi-Wan
Leia is growing on me, she was a bit much in the first 2 episodes but they struck a good balance with her in this one.
This is long, potential spoilers...
Pretty mixed review for me so far, gotta admit Lil Leia is a bit much for me. If her screen time and attempts at humor have already peaked I think I might really love the series because there is so much else that is right with it, if it gets even more about her I'll probably cringe at a lost opportunity.
People like to bash on Ewoks and RotJ...the Ewoks were going to EAT Han, Luke and Chewy. They hurled themselves in front of blaster fire and casualties all over the place, they convincingly looked like wild bipedal forest creatures rather than some CGI mess. They were cute/funny but more well done than Lil Anakin's "yipee" or this Lil Leia mess. RotJ is just a very dark movie in a lot of other ways too even with the ending change where Lando/Falcon make it out, Luke turning himself in to face Emperor/Vader and the throne room scenes are darkest/scariest moments in entire saga. I think it was a cool idea to do the misdirection of Obi-Wan actually needing to protect Leia instead of the obvious Luke, I just feel like they are turning it into some lame attempt to appeal to demogrphics. I was 3 or 4 when I saw pretty dark TESB in theaters and I lived for that stuff as a little kid, I didn't need a cute 4 year old to like it as a 4 year old. R2 and C3PO and even Han/Chewie were funny enough for me.
Very unfortunate people have lashed out at Reva actress, because she seems to be a pretty cool villain and can pull off the bad@$$ role. Not sure how much of her own stunts she's doing but her stunt scenes are some of the coolest I've seen in Star Wars content too. She was great in Queen's Gambit and seems to be quite an actress. I think there's a pretty big difference between the trolls obsessed with hating on her and the people calling out some of the Leia scenes as cringe worthy. With Kelly Tran there was a way to dislike her character/plot (which let's face it were bad) without bashing on the idea of an asian woman in Star Wars. Some could do that, some couldn't. With the Reva character she's actually pretty awesome so far so it's nothing but ugliness for the most part.
I've always been one of those who didn't like the prequels but McGregor as Obi-Wan was the best part and that still seems to be the case for me.
I thought it was Fridays too but was pleasantly surprised this morning. This one sets up almost like a horror/suspense movie. It was right up there with the best Mandalorian episodes.I thought these were going to be released on Friday's! That makes it hard for me to watch with moving today and what not. I'm emailing Bob Chapek!![]()

It released at midnight on the first day of Star Wars Celebration. And while it wasn't the exact date of the opening day of Star Wars, it was the same timeframe, the start of Memorial Day weekend. Stranger Things could have had something to do with it, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it had nothing to do with it. I don't think the lack of ST buzz had anything to do with Kenobi, and more to do with the long hiatus.I thought all along the Friday release for the first two episodes was Disney's attempt at giving the middle finger to Netflix and Stranger Things, but now that it has switched to Wednesday releases moving forward, it pretty much confirms it in my mind. In fact, Disney had announced a while back that Wednesdays would be the release date for all their original shows, while Fridays would be the release date for all their original movies. This is why the initial Friday release date was so strange. It would have been one thing if it was released on a different day to coincide with May the Fourth or Star Wars original release date, but there was zero significance to it. Regardless, if it was an attempt to screw over Stranger Things, I can't help but think it partially worked. I'm a Stranger Things fan myself, but have you heard anyone talk about it really? Not me. It isn't until just recently I've heard a few people talking about how it is really pretty good.
My youngest daughter has never seen these nor anything else with this action and she tries it on me near daily. She's the worst. My 5 year old watches all of these movies, which I agree are darker than you think when you watch them with adult eyes. Whenever we play with lightsabers he always wants to pull off the Anakin/Count Dooku double lightsaber chop my head off scene from the start of Revenge of the Sith... and you just have to think, well, this went a little further than I had hoped.

I don’t think “fit badass actor” should describe anyone who is supposed to turn into ANH Alec Guinness within a decade. And Ewan is arguably more associated with Obi-Wan than Guinness at this point. Casting anyone but him, if he’s willing and able, would have been a massive mistake.1. lil leaia was so bad i couldnt watch it.
2. cant they find a fit badass actor to play obi wan?
and no, i have zero attachment to original actors, although i do like to keep them the same gender and race.
Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3 thoughts:
I hate to say it, but I had high expectations for this series and the writing has let me down a ton to this point. I’ve enjoyed Ewan again, just like in the prequels, but it seems like this could have been done so much better. I hope the final three episodes help me change my mind.
- The inquisitors saw Kenobi and Leia leave on a freighter and couldn’t immediately comm an Imperial ship in the area to chase it out of the planet’s atmosphere before it jumped into hyperspace?
- The stormtroopers on the planet they landed on were looking for a Jedi, but apparently had no other details about his appearance or that he would likely be traveling with a small girl? They had to have been briefed by someone. Why didn’t that someone provide more info…
- Obi-Wan goes from can’t hit the broad side of a barn with a blaster to the Star Wars version of Hawkeye within one episode
- I liked Leia’s character better this episode. Her dialogue seemed forced at times in the first two, but flowed better in this one I thought.
- I could not care less about any of the inquisitors after watching this episode. It seems like any screen time dedicated to them is wasted so far. They either bicker with each other, walk about as slowly as possible while looking for someone, or use pointlessly complex parkour to get from point A to point B.
- Glad Vader is getting involved. However…
- The whole time Vader was pursuing Obi-Wan felt weird. They came face to face that one time out in the open and Vader seemed to let Obi-Wan just continue running away… Wouldn’t there be enough hatred there to finally see the guy who left you for dead burning on Mustafar to immediately charge him with your lightsaber or go straight for the force choke?
- Once Vader finally went for the choke and “revenge burn”, I thought that was awesome. Seems like something he would do in the moment. But…
- Why did he seemingly cut it short for no reason? Why did he ask the stormtroopers to bring him Obi-Wan instead of just using the Force to lift his body? And why are we acting like 10 yards of flames are enough to keep Vader from preventing Obi-Wan from getting rescued?
