Stanzi getting drafted?

I think you lost your bet. Stanzi to the Chiefs in the 5th. He'll be throwing TD's to Moeaki... in practice.

I don't expect Stanzi to be a star or even a starter in the NFL. But he will still pick up a pretty good paycheck. Croyle sucks so I wouldn't be surprised to see him get that #2 spot in the near future.

It actually wouldn't have surprised me to see him go in the late 2nd. This is a weird draft with the lockout and no free agency at this point. QBs were all pushed up more than they would have been. I'm actually surprised Stanzi dropped as far as he did. I don't know how he'll end up doing, but I could see him having a Sage like career...that's probably his best case scenerio.

That, Sir, was a bad bet.

Stanzi is actually not that horrible of a QB. At times, he has had an accurate arm, and has shown that he can hit a wide open receiver. Where he struggles, however, is when he's pressured. He can't escape out of a pocket, or make consistant throws when he has somebody coming at him.

That being said, he got drafted about where he should have to a team that he has no shot of playing for with Cassle and Croyle ahead of him...

Not that horrible? He just got f'n drafted into the NFL. I know its tough for Iowa state to admit but Iowa has really good players and Iowa State isn't even in the same stratosphere as the Iowa football program.

What was the number of QB's from each school last year in the NFL?

I could be wrong, but I see 2 from ISU and zero from EIU.

I figured Stanzi was a 4th or 5th round QB because I didn't think the really highly touted guys would end up getting drafted this quickly. Overall at the top its a pretty weak looking class. When that occured, I started to think he could sneak into the 3rd round.

Yeah just got a call from my son in KC (huge Chiefs fan) and he wasn't happy about this pick.

Hes in the minority, 90% of chiefs fans love the pick if you check their message board.

You really want to start comparing players from Iowa and Iowa State who play in the NFL? When was the last time ISU had a first round pick again?

George Amundson 1974 duh you didn't know that

I don't think Ricky is going to tear it up, but just to have a shot at an NFL career is worth alot. Really enjoyed watching him play, along with Arnaud at ISU. Both are really good kids and role models!

you have been reading too much eastern iowa newspaper articles, where Stanzi was the heir apparent to Tom Brady and/or Peyton Manning--- seriously.

Are there ghost writers for these news columns? I'm betting a drunk Ed Podolak or drunk Jim zabel are spinning these yarns for the papers.

Hopefuly no more 'clipboard carrier' comments from dumb Iowa fans when they bash the 10-yr + careers of Sage and Seneca.

Hawkeye heroes Scott Mullin, Randy Reiner, Drew Tate, Brad Banks would give their right nut to sniff an NFL paycheck

How so *******, I broke even, did you even read the first post, as for all the great Hawkeye draft picks your team still lost five games this year, good job boys keep up the good work
