Stagnant Offense Stinks

The offense we run is beyond putrid. Dribble the freakin' air out of the ball possession after possession while the other three/four players stand & watch. All too often we either take a quick bad shot by the only player who has touched the ball in the front court with no offensive rebounders in position, or dribble in place for 20 seconds, then have to force up a low percentage prayer before the shot clock expires. Why on earth is there literally no ball movement or no Cyclone players screening and cutting? Lost count long ago of how many times our announcers have pleaded, "Cyclones really need to move the ball with the pass". Post game comments from CBF are a broken record. "Same old story, we just stand around and watch Bridget, nobody is stepping up". "We just have to knock down shots". Imagine the kind of looks at the basket the Sisters would consistently get and how much improved the shooting percentages would be if we were truly hard to defend. The talk all season has been that the Cyclones don't have a true point guard, blah, blah. Isn't that all the more reason to move the basketball, screen, pass and cut, and make the opponent work their asses off? This group has talent. Most all of it is coming back (hopefully). Falling in love with a system that may have been effective in the past because of personnel but obviously wasn't the answer this year, cost the team greatly this season. Hopefully it was a lesson learned. Here's hoping that going forward, we'll adapt to the players we currently have, and they will be allowed to play to their strengths, so we can have a productive TEAM offense that allows the TEAM to reach their true potential!
