I’m looking for a company to service a sprinkler system at a house in Clive. Rain King used to handle it but they got bought out by A+ Lawn and Landscape. A+ is one of the worst companies that I’ve ever done business with, so I need another company that can service the system as far as repairs and yearly start and winterize service. Does anyone have any recommendations? Feel free to DM me too.

I really like the guys that installed mine.

Every spring they email me and I go to the website to pick times and dates. Response if I have a question or issue is always within an hour via email.

What's the cost? We used to use Iowa Irrigation until they jacked the rates up to $280 for startup/backflow/shutdown. Currently using Ripke which is $210 for the same services, and no complaints after 2 years.

DSM is who installed our irrigation when we moved into our house 5+ years ago and I've continue to use them for startup/shutdown. For startup and backflow it was just under $100, and I believe the cost to shut them down is roughly the same.

I use John with Smarter Green Lawn Irrigation Solutions. He is good, prompt and is priced a lot better than alot of the local companies. He is out of Granger.

Out of curiosity, anyone in the DSM/Ames area installed a new system lately? Curious on cost per square foot - Google gives some super wide ranges.

I've had many over the years. We bought our house in 2011 and the system was already installed.

Perficut - AFter a few years dropped the residential, went commercial only

Shades of Green - Bought the client list from Perficut. Shady is in the name, unmarked white vans, techs were worthless

A+ - Irrigation was actually okay. Went to them for mowing/fertilizer and had to drop them. Awful quality of work and customer service after the fact was terrible. My wife was in the hospital having a baby and I was trying to fight with them to come mow my 18" grass they'd been ignoring.

BOSS in Johnston - They were okay with irrigation, but lousy on the lawn care. Didn't last a full season with them either. Would rut up the yard after rains and generally didn't care about quality.

DeVries - I've had them for 4 or 5 years now. The lawn care aspect is okay, but I DIY all that again now. Irrigation Dept is good. Have the same dude year after year, does the backflow and repairs anything in the spring. And shutdown in the fall is a piece of cake.
