Spring Game

I don't get why anyone would make a dig at Nebraska for having that kind of fan support at their spring game. I hate the Huskers as much as the next person, but that's pretty damn cool if you ask me. If I was an 18 year old recruit that kind of fan support would absolutely be an attractive pitch.

Regarding the thread... I've learned you can't take anything from the spring game and apply it to the season. It doesn't mean a damn thing. It's neat to see some players in action and get a little bit of a football fix in the spring, but that's about all it is worth. I wouldn't read too much into anything whether positive or negative.

You really can't imagine how obsessed these people are until you live here and experience it 24x7x365

You're right. The topper for me was when I saw people from work with everything Big Red, all the way down to the toilet paper dispensors.

I was impressed with the turn out Saturday. I'm guessing 8,000 or so, any official estimate?
The "game" was basic practice scrimmage but with live clock atmosphere and live hitting in the interior line. linebackers and running backs. From my observation, the defensive line play looked to be improved with quicker and bigger players. Offensive running game was limited by play diversity but the backs did not break many tackles or get extra yards after contact. Demond Tucker and Jay Jones showed new level of play at their positions. Cole Netten was consistent. Overall, I feel the defense will be improved with the added heft and ability in the line and the seasoned DB's. LB's are unknown. Offense did not show much either good or bad. Lanning got lots of reps and he looks to be Big 12 ready, physically. Runs the ball well, adequate arm strength. SEZ will really be a quality upgrade and help to recruiting. I was inside the Bergstom Center too and ISU can compete with most programs in regard to facilities in today's recruitment world.

We are a five year work in progress at running back.

I think you answered your own question about why I would take a dig at that many people attending a pretend game.

Nice try. You know what I meant. The spring games shouldn't be used to try to get an idea where the team is at in terms of development.

Why would anyone make fun of Nebraska for having such great fan support? Who cares if it's a spring game? As a player that's pretty damn cool to have that kind of interest and support shown to your team.

I have to think that kNU recruits can put the pieces together. No coach is ever again going to win enough there to satisfy the fans. Be sure that the coach who recruits you won't be your coach when you graduate.
