Sports Pet Peeves

I've noticed this a bunch this summer during my sons little league game. Doesnt matter who or where, there is always a parent during an 8U little league game riding the High School Umpire, who is working for a Mt Dew and pack of gum. Granted, I've quietly chuckled to my self and quietly told my wife "that's a bad call" but to verbally abuse a High School Umpire crosses the line.

That said, the Adult Umpire who has too much pride to admit he made a bad call during an 8U game is pretty much game on for verbal ridicule. (No, I do not yell) But when everyone in the park (including the 5 year olds on the park swings) see that the throw was in time and the kid intially caught it and made the tag, then promptly drops the ball and the ball goes rolling away. It's understandable that you would initially call the out, but when the dust settles and you see what actually unfolds, I think everyone would understand if you said "oopps sorry about that."

Fans who think Kobe Bryant is still good at basketball and that he is worth being the highest paid player in the league.

This. And to piggy back off of that. Fans (Chicago I am looking at you) who hate lebron and refuse to accept he is the best player in the game, just because they don't like that he beats them every year. Realize/Respect when someone is just that good.

Slapping the court. Yes, I'm looking at you Sooners.

The gif you have attached is Miami slapping Duke in the face.

why? You are walking a lot. You're on a golf course. I've done this a few times. Avoids getting your other shoes grass stained/wet and they are made to be comfortable walking a golf course.

Golf shoes are made to give you traction when swinging a golf club. Any regular athletic shoe would be just fine to wear on the course. You aren't going to get grass stains on your shoes meandering around as a spectator.

The phrase “home and home†when speaking about a series between two teams where they agree to each get one home game as part of a series. What ever happened to referring to this as a “home and away†which is really what it when speaking about the arrangement from your team’s perspective? For those that don’t see anything odd about the label, I ask this question – what then does a “home and away†series refer to? In other words, if “home and home†is valid description of the series, what is the label for the opposite arrangement? (i.e…one team gets both games at home).

This times 1000. It used to be home and away and that made sense, some idiot changed it along the way. Tell me how to describe a 2 for 1 in the home home lingual. A home home and home? No, a home home and away makes sense though.

When I'm playing in a preferred ball and ask someone what yardage they think they hit and they tell me the club they hit. This doesn't help me because we are not the same player!

You're an engineer. You just observed theta, figure out the tangent your own damn self.

Fouling a jump shooter and lightly fouling a guy from behind that is going to obviously make a wide open layup. Drives me bonkers

I'm indifferent if my feet get wet or if my shoes get grass stained. This isn't WW1, I'm not worried about trench foot.

The only time I need my golf shoes is when I'm golfing and the ground is wet.

“I’m, my, I’m, I….”

Ohhh….so it is all about you then. Got it.

For many, their golf shoes are the most comfortable, practical shoe for them to wear to walk a golf course…especially one that is very hilly. When people go as a spectator to a professional golf event, they tend to do A LOT of walking….on a golf course.

Hopefully now I’ve opened your mind it bit so maybe you’ll see people might simply be doing this for practical reasons.

I get it. It was a pet peeve because you only saw this through your own lenses. Hopefully now I’ve opened your mind it bit so maybe you’ll see people might simply be doing this for practical reasons.
Does it get awkward when you wear your football cleats to ISU games?

Guys who have to flex and dance after making a big hit/tackle after giving up a 5+ yard gain. In the same vein, guys who continue to talk and taunt when down by 17.

To add, when a d-back breaks up a pass and shows similar antics.

Pretty sure it was Leonard Johnson who head butted (maybe not intentionally, but was def. taunting) a UT player on a 3rd and long, and got an unsportsmanlike penalty. It was 13-0 at the time, and the next automatic 1st, after Johnson was pulled, it was 19-0.
