Spoiler Alert: Uniform update

Well, I do what I can; figured how to somewhat use Pixlr Photo editor. I respect people who buy and figure out how to do Photoshop, which definitely isn't what I'm doing here. But it gets the point across.

What I have to do is to collect ideas/pics, then try to organize it. Is it great? No, but it's condensed and organized into one spot (when I post anyway). All these uni threads have SO many pics and ideas. I collected the ones I like, admittedly biased, but have usually tried to include pics/ideas that others like also.

I get my 'material' from others, the 'photoshop' pros, from past threads and other uniform sites, public pics. Folks like amestoplease, and perhaps Kagavi, obviously have far more skill and resources than I; but then again, they don't post that often and haven't contributed lately. Can't blame them. What is going to happen will happen with the uniforms. They should be consulted, IMO, and probably won't be; they do great work, and love ISU. If I were ISU, I would consult w/ folks like them.

I hope you guys do appreciate what I've done so far, even though it is obsessive, I know. But I'm done now, UNLESS i get some new ideas/material to work with.

im here, it's just that there isn't much more to 'contribute' at this point. this thread is just a constant cycle of the same people wanting white helmets, grey alternates, or complaints about changing a logo that gets defended by people saying we're not trying to change the logo, just add a secondary mark. trust me, I'm as passionate as anybody on here, I simply don't have the energy to expend on suggestions that fall on deaf ears. if we're putting together a presentation for Campbell or something, I'm in but trying to appease unrealistic fans' mock up ideas with my photoshop accessibility seems to have run its course.

I agree. I think we would all love to see some changes of some kind to the uniforms, and I think Campbell would too, but our hands are somewhat tied from everything I've heard.

I think it's too late for Nike to make changes for this year possibly? So we aren't likely to see much. Also, I'm not sure that JP or Leath want to see us change our colors or our logo at all, so I think any ideas with color changes or logo changes are completely unrealistic and a waste of time.

At most I think maybe we see some white and gold helmets this fall hopefully. I'm not sure we'll see much change in the uniform at all. I'd be happy with just the adding of white and gold helmets though. That adds a LOT of different uniform combos to pick from. I also would like to see a stripe down the middle of the helmets to distinguish us a bit more from USC. Just those little changes for this year would be great IMO.

Agree completely. I couldn't have summed it up better. What amestoplease has done in the past, is nothing short of amazing, and I'll bet he hasn't gotten a whiff of interest from the past coaching staff or the present administration.

I am in complete agreement for a uniform update. No McDonald's or USC look alikes please. Be the Cyclones! I cannot wait for football - CMC please get us to Florida or Az for a warm weather bowl! No more rainy/snowy bs bowls. Am getting too old to keep up the faith - have been a fan for over 50 years - if Sun Bowl is highest ever then I am sad! So - get new unis, run the gd ball, and let JL run, pass or kick - just get us out of the cellar!

Here may be why we should stick with the I-STATE logo and forget the twirl or bird. Below is a logo used by a school from 1971-'78 that was then replaced in 1979 and that "new" has been used nearly unchanged since. That school's new logo, though kind of unattractive in my opinion, is distinct and in its stability has created a recognizable representation of that school.

Keep that in mind if you approach our coach and the Ad. Traditional colors in a solid yet appealing depictive logo is the way to go. Some of the mock-ups here have that.

I remember this logo vaguely. Haden did wonders for that school. Completely transformed them. I think the I-State logo is good primary, but we need something that actually looks good on a helmet.

I hate that Tigerhawk emblem with a passion. It reminds me of ol raisin face snake oil b#stard who would bash ISU publicly for years. The tigerhawk is a stencil and ugly as h#ll

And NO to white helmets for ISU. please stop

ugheye coaches in 1979 were incensed when a sports writer suggested the new logo looked like a cross between a parrot (large round beak) and a chicken (dangling wattle). Not happy at all, those coaches. But the logo does not look like a hawk's head, so. . . .

I believe you are in the significant minority on this. I loved the white helmet posted in this thread. I think it looks sharp

I even like that one helmet the equipment manager trolled us with. My stipulation for it, though, is if we wear it at home it has to be with the white pants. It would look stupid with the cardinal jersey and either the gold or cardinal pants.

Agree with this. I'd actually take it a step further and say you should only wear the white helmet with the white jersey and white pants. Not sure I'd like it with anything else.
