Southern Scuffle 2019

Iowa State press release says Willie Miklus and David Carr will not be competing due to illness. Guessing we will have to keep the redshirt on Carr now unless he finds another tournament he can prove he’a truly ready to compete at an all American level

3 seed vs 6 seed is quarter, correct? Could be some fun matches

Degen (3) vs Verkerleen(6) at 149
Mackall (6) vs Townsell (3) at 125
Colbray(3) vs Bolen(6) at 184

Coleman and Gremmel don't get seeded

Gomez(2) vs RBY(3) in semis and winner get Fix (1) at 133

Man that really sucks about Carr and Miklus. Morrow Carr because we all know where Miklus stacks up. Oh well, lots of other great opportunities for the other guys!

Mackall has as good a shot as anyone to make the finals. #2 seed is Rico Montoya. We will find out exactly where he stacks up with the mid-range guys.
Degen has a tough draw. Verkleeren is tough and if he gets by him he has #2 Gfeller who will win the tournament.

On Teasdale, it could be a number of reasons.
1. What was his issue and will he be a PSU for 4 years.
2. They have Howard coming in and need to keep moving Teasdale and Teske though
3. Both are probably better the Schnupp(sp???)
4. One of them (Teske or Teasdale) wrestling attached was the original plan
5. Both Teasdale and Teske haven't wrestled yet, so maybe Teasdale is healthier.

I don't think this conversation wold be a surprise if Teasdale never quit the team for whatever the issue was. I have learned one thing, usually the fan base only has a small bit of the facts and I would guess this is definitely true with the Teasdale situation.

Only thing I don't understand, is why not wrestle both Teasdale and Teske unattached and see the results?

Took a quick look at PSU board many seem to think it has to do with a waiver or lack of one. May not be able to use RS this year. Rules around him having withdrawn from school seem complicated.

Yeah Cael was supposedly trying to get a waiver to restart his clock & get a 6th year. Doesn’t really make much sense with Teske & now Howard coming in

Also it has been said he is an old true freshman. One of those 'held-back in the 7th grade' types. I couldn't find his birth date on PSU roster. Seems strange Cael would want to keep a kid around that long who is already old for his class.

Actually Verkleeren and Gfeller will meet before Degen. Degen would get the winner in the Semis if he makes it that far. Not sure who all the guys in his path are, but doesn't look too daunting.
