Crazy how threads work these days, goes from SEZ -> us supposedly copying USC's jerseys (which is false) -> Iowa v. Southern Miss logo debate -> to a poster questioning my sex life (which is quite fine by the way)...

Gotta love the interwebz

Or a software company purchasing property -> new age hippies vs. right wing crazies.

For those who missed the fun.

I mean I guess if Southern Miss and Iowa's logos weren't similar this wouldn't have happened?

Patent office tells Southern Miss its logo too similar to Iowa’s | Hawk Central

Der, der, derrrr.

Yes and one third of the judges in the case agreed with me that they are not very similar. I think to the discerning eye it is a stupid lawsuit. Last I saw So. Miss was still using it. Looks to me like they still believe that the case won't hold up under further scrutiny.

My guess would be about 2 feet.

Hypothetically, if seats are currently 24 inches and were made 20 inches, JTS seating capacity would increase from 46,500 to 55,800, and the seats would still be wider than an average NFL game seat. If they were made 22 inches they would be wider than high $$$ NFL club seating and JTS would hold 51,500 inside. An addition of 9300 new seats could mean more than $2 million in AD income every season (9300 seats x minimum 6 games x $35 average ticket+ concessions and parking.)

The stadium may not be engineered to allow for another 10-20% more fans in the stands, but the potential is there for JTS to hold more than 65,000 on game days with a new south end zone, north end grass, and renumbered seats inside.

If seats are actually 24 inches today, and demand continues, this will happen if it is possible.

Because we always get picked on for stealing USC's uniforms...... They might be right.....

I don't know why we get picked on (and I never hear that actually anymore, only the first couple years) when our uni's look very similar to our 1956 uni's. Football Uniforms - Cardinal and Gold Threads wonder if we got crap back then for looking similar to USC. oh wait our uni's have ALWAYS kind of resembled USC... Ask me if I give a crap. At least the current ones tie to our history more than the crap that Coach Mac put on the field.

Easy now ------ I don't think we need to start bashing Dan here. That man was a great man and those uniforms were worn during some of the most successful years for ISU both on the grass and the hardwood.

I'll bash him for his horrid play calling at times, and refusal to do anything about his coordinators...

"Austin Flynn on the draw, for a loss"

Don't forget him offering a scholly to 10 Iowa kids per year. Like somehow we would never embrace the team if 80% of the roster wasn't from Iowa.

Really, we just need to go with "yellow" (gold) helmets again. Grey facemask - W/two cardinal stripes down the center. Takes care of everything. I don't know why we don't, we would be the only team in conference sporting the "yellow helmet" look.

Our current look for home and away is sweet. Just change up the helmet and we would be golden.... nobody would make that stupid comparison anymore.

McCarney was far from perfect, but he did what we needed him to do most and that is change the culture. To that regard, he did it so well that it eventually cost him his job. Those of you that weren't around the 80's and early 90's don't realize how monumental his task was. He changed our logo, he changed our uniforms, he changed our colors. Yeah, they are butt *** ugly now, but at the time the main goal was mostly to make sure that none of it reminded people of what had come prior. He tore out the astroturf that was rolling up and installed the greatest grass field in the country. Facilities were built. Ticket sales blossumed and people started to believe that we could compete. And he beat Iowa, and beat them again, and again. I am not going to tell you he is a hall of fame coach, but short of a Bill Snyder type of coach, we couldn't have asked for any more of the right combo of things for what we needed at the time. Dan McCarney is the reason that today we can have JP, CPR, SEZ discussions, and record crowds. He didn't do it all, but that foundation that he laid is at the heart of all of it. Lets not raise Coach Mac too high, but lets not tear him down either. He did a job no one else wanted for a lot longer than most other coaches would have, and in the end left because we said so, not because he wanted to go. I'll never disrespect a guy that cried because of love for ISU as he was carried off the field in his last game.

Interesting.

We're too corn-fed for this.

I think the seats are already closer to 18-20" than 24". But I don't have any proof of that.

Ehh, probably too many fatties out there for this. However it may force old people to stand up.

Just bowl it in. Repeat........... We need a guy like from the Simpson's episode that sold the town on the monorail for the SEZ. Can Jamie sing and play piano?
