SOURCE: Jameel McKay's knee is structurally sound

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Jameel McKay's knee has no structural damage. This comes after McKay's trip to the doctor on Tuesday afternoon.

He's considered to be day to day at this point.

Physically he is good but now it's time to get him right mentally.

I wouldn't say he is good physically. They just said no structural damage. He obviously has pain, so maybe its just a bruise. Honestly, I would rest him against Texas A&M and try to to let him heal a bit more. I have a feeling that the better his knee gets feeling, the better he will be mentally.

I would rather have an MCL sprain vs some really nasty chondromalacia or bad patellofemoral issues. "Not structural" doesn't make me feel a ton better.

Craig Brackins went through the same problem for a while and it really disabled him.

Well news of no structural damage may be all he needs mentally, knowing his future isn't in doubt is probably a big weight off his shoulders.

Hopefully this knowledge helps Jameel's mental state. From personal experience getting encouraging information from doctors during a medical scare was a huge weight off my mind.

It is excruciating for ISU to have to play on the road for a non conf right in the heart of Big12 season. I hope this falls on its face and its moved back to December next year.

But will that mess with him even more that they choose to sit him? It seems like McKay gets worked up the most when he is sitting on the bench.

I'll get blasted for this, but I think we should sit most of the team for A&M. Can't risk injury in a game that doesn't hurt to lose and doesn't gain much to win.

So you want us to lay down for a game that would help tremendously for RPI, tourney seeding, rankings, confidence level ETC ETC. Carry on you're right nothing to gain.

Unlikely we beat OU for the title, might as well win out the postseason. Said before the conference season started we should sacrifice the A&M game for some rest.

I agree. This should be played before conference, not end of Jan.

if it means being rested and ready for WVU, yes. Keeping the winning streak going against the Big12 is more important. Losing to a #5 team on the road is not bad.

Good to hear. Keep your chin up McKay. You are a link in the chain that is this team. Each link is valuable and required to keep the chain strong.

Way too big of an opportunity to not play to win. I'm fine with resting Jameel but no need benching anyone but that. We have nothing to lose but winning this game could move us up a seed
