I can tell Toledo where to get their next HC - go get Willie Fritz if they can get him. Excellent coach with proven winning track record - he will get them the MAC championship they want and beat NIU as well. I hope we hired Gary Pinkel and not Tim Beckman.

I don't mind the hire. I know I would feel way more excited if he had a MAC champ under his belt.

On your second point, I can see them doing this less with a decent QB. If the Toledo QB could've thrown a medium range pass with any accuracy they would've blown ISU out earlier this year.

To be fair, the same (or similar) could be said about ISU. Or St. Mary's Sisters of the Poor for that matter. "If we had a better team, we would have beaten you."

I am not overly excited about this hire. It isn't very sexy and I have serious concerns about his recruiting but the optimist in me thinks given the amount of other vacancies this is probably the best we could hope for. I am really interested in who his assistants are because IMO that's gonna make or break him.

Fritz and Niumatalolo were my top choices but Campbell was a close 3rd. Very happy with this hire. Only time will tell but I think JP got it right this time.

I'm confused about why you would be concerned about his recruiting? He's going to hire a coaching staff to help recruit. Recruits like young coaches like him they can relate to better. He's getting better recruiting classes at Toledo than we are here. It's going to be easier for him to recruit to a Big12 team, with great facilities. What's the problem?
