Yep I do. And I worry we will suck all year, go the KC and make a great run and that buys him more time to suck again next year. As for not a good look for our athletics department - have you watched the games we have lost this year? I have - and that is not a good look for our athletics department.

Just my opinion. I understand wanting to fire at a more traditional time.

It’s really a good thing we have an adult running the athletic department

These are Steve's conference numbers against other teams including Big 12 tourney, might be slightly off

Prohm has a better winning percentage KSU, KU, OSU than Fred,
Fred has a better percentage against TCU, Texas WV.

TECH/OU are pretty similar with both having similar win percentages

Of course coach changes over the years on other teams can have an impact.
Also Fred had games in the old Big 12 so did not play a round robin, so why I only looked at performance against current Big 12 members, an apples to apples comparison.

In Fred's first year only played 9 games against current Big 12 teams (no WV/TCU then)
He went 1-8 against them only beating Baylor.

Just some stats not trying to say good or bad about either coach

OU 6-3
KSU 6-3
TCU 5-5
KU 4-5
Texas 3-6
OSU 7-2
Tech 5-3
Baylor 4-5
WV 4-5

Dear Steve: Do you know how much Iowa Staters despise the University of Iowa and its athletic teams. No, it's not just another game. It is a chance to move into a position of equality, perhaps superiority, over a university and teams who have treated ISU like a "little brother" and patted us on the head along the way, generally feeling they would always have the upper hand on us. Much has changed. ISU is a bigger and better university. We have come sooooo far in such a short period of time to gain the respect we deserve. Students and alumni alike lined up around Hilton last night to pack the house to watch YOUR team earn a much-needed win. Again, YOUR team peed it down their collective legs. This one is on you, buster. Either get 'em up for games like this or go find another Division I-A or II team. This is big time basketball. Please consider whether you are up to it. If not, move on...................

You sending one to Matt Campbell too I mean he has longer losing streak to Iowa than Prohm. Gene Chizek beat Iowa how hard can it be?

Figure you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone right. Its drafted, just change the recipient and Hilton to Jack Trice and call it a day.

While we are at it can we add woman's hoops and wrestling too..

Now that we've all had a night to sleep on it I wanted to get a feel for where the board is at on Prohm as coach.

Let's keep it much more civil than the game thread. We already have enough to deal with from hawk coworkers, friends, and family today.

Happy thoughts. Its Friday and many of us will be in Orlando in two weeks with a chance at three straight 8 win football seasons.

It’s really a good thing we have an adult running the athletic department

Take it somewhere else.

Good idea! If we could just believe in ourselves.

I'm not sure whether you're really this dumb or you're just intentionally distorting what I'm saying in your frantic effort to stamp out any criticism of our program. Either way, I'll elaborate.

No, of course I'm not suggesting Prohm share publicly everything he says in private. I agree, that doesn't serve anyone and besides, there's no need - we all knew the source of Lard's issues anyway.

But how many games did we ask ourselves whether Lard was still in the doghouse? Whether he would play at all, much less how many minutes? Is he suspended or not? Once Lard got off his early suspension, it remained a theme throughout the rest of the season, and Prohm's vagueness about it all only fed the issue.

My only thing with Lard was that if he was meeting expectations to be able to play, the actual playing/learning part may have been a thing where 'less is more' with him and we may have missed a chance to see more out of him. You throw too many technicalities at someone in the learning process, and it can get jumbled.

It seems to be said often that multiple players look 'lost' out there on D.

There's needing improvement on intensity, positioning, angles, etc., but how is it that players are constantly lost and have had this tag for their career?

so you dont like campbell either b/c he's 0-4
Way to take a leap of irrelevant logic. CMC is competitive in every game vs Iowa, who has been bowl-bound and Top 25 for most of CMC's four year; in addition CMC has won the other games as expected.
Prohm has lost by double-digits 3x to a mediocre Iowa teams; who can't play D, don't have PG and has put what - 1, or 2 in the NBA (if that); and has a losing record to Fran, plus Garza just put up a double-double vs our experienced front court. ...

I can't stand suck-up sycophant fans who think, " nothing to see here, just move on".

CF might downvote me into oblivion but for as bad as Fran is a man and recruiter, he is a good coach. There is no doubt in my mind that his outbursts and inability to control his emotions heavily effects his in game coaching abilities though

Hot take: Iowa will end up with a marginal record and suck at the end of the season.

Stop hyperventilating. There's nothing private and secretive about wanting to know whether your key players are actually going to play.

And it got strung along throughout the entire season. At some point, either Lard reached the point he "got the message" (whatever it was) and you weave him back into the starting lineup, or you relegate him to fill-role. It's like the entire season hinged on if the team could be built with Lard as a significant piece or if it was necessary to retool the approach and move on. Neither happened. That was frustrating.

So you were absolutely sure Nader was an nba player? Burton? Hell Matt Thomas was called a recruiting miss after his sophomore year.

I get this is the group think of the crewe, and there are real valid criticisms of his coaching strategy and stubbornness to change.

But this silly attempt to revise truth doesn’t make your case at all. In fact, it does just the opposite.

i mentioned nobody in particular...however, it IS a fact that Prohm's first team had future NBA players on it. That team performed better than those teams after and many during that same period believed they didn't perform as well as they should have, which at the time was an indictment on Prohm.

the truth is his teams have not been as competitive as those teams just before him.

you come up with some real ****...I have no idea what this truth revision garbage is...you're just plain weird.

If we want to see our shooting improve at Hilton how about having the team practice and shoot AT HILTON rather than Soukup. I would think the lighting and feel has to be completely different between the 2 facilities.

Just a thought.

He had ISU on an upward trajectory.

Prohms trajectory is downward. Likely to miss the tournament 2/3 years and wouldn't surprise me if next year is a miss as well.

What if Fred just had the foresight to get out of town before everyone turned on him for not maintaining his own standard?

People always want to gloss over that part.

There are valid criticisms of Prohm also, but that isn't what this is even about. This is entirely about the humiliation of losing to Fran.

no...i don't care that we lost to Fran or JoBo or anyone...it's how we lose and the broken record afterwards. Losing to Fran just amplifies it.

I like Prohm a lot and honestly I am really excited for the recruiting class next year and some of the talent on this team. In game coaching and strategy leaves a lot to be desired. Give him a couple more years, but if he can't win with the class coming in and the talent already on the team..... It might be time to go.
