they're actually called fraternities. What do you call your country?
 
Being an SAE, I was always impressed by the number of hotties from the residence halls who accepted invites to our parties...

As a former member of a fraternity, I realize the fine line that Greek members must walk to avoid beome a huge tool. The stereotype of the chest-thumping, polo-wearing d bag turns alot of people off, but then again so does the reality of pretentious, uppity types that look down on wet houses, or say things like "Its called a frat, would you call your country a...." The best thing you can do as a member of a fraternity, or I would imagine sorority as well, is develop friendships with your brothers or sisters and never take your s*** too seriously.
 
I love rush week.playing volleyball on the front lawen watching the girls go by. if I close my eyes I can hear the pi phis singing "pi beta phi for me, pi beta phi for you. Me for my for pi beta phi for..." Or "down on the corner..." Or the tri delts singing "I got all my sisters with me" that was nearly 20 yrs ago and its burned into my brain. Damn I'm old

I was in a Greek House, I loved it, as I am sure people that were not Greek loved being in Dorms or off campus. I had 21 new pledge brothers that I had never meet before in 1991, it is now 2009 and 18 of the 21 of us are still in yearly if not monthly contact, so for our group we have made life long friendships even though we are a diverse bunch, most people stereotype a greek house as a whole, but the best houses are very diverse, athlets, brains, fine arts, slackers, ********, we had them all. As I am sure the dorms or off campus people did as well, also my pledge class of 1991 has been pretty succesful, we have Insurance agents, salesman, White House Press Secratary's, Business Owners, Lawyers, Vets, Medical Professional, CEO's of Hospitals, and so on, so if that makes us dorks and ******** more power to us. Basically I am saying we are no different than those who did not join the Greek System, we just choose a different path for our campus life. So say what you want about Greeks, the same could be said about non-greeks, and I can also tell you the university and the ISUFoundation loves Greek Alumni as the donate about 80-85% of the money that goes to the foundation. So I am proud to be a Greek, I am married to a non-Greek and hope some day my son will choose to be Greek, but if he does not more power to him, he can be succesful nd enjoy college life either way. Go Greek or do not Go Greek, it is not for all.

This is probably the most level headed post in here for a while.

I have a couple friends that were in frats that didn't turn into jerks, but a lot of their buddies were jerks to me. I never talked to them enough to find out if it was because of me, or because I wasn't in frat since I never cared enough to find out.

At the same time, my sister was in a sorority and her friends there were actually pleasant to me all the time. I dunno, maybe the respect is through either knowing them before getting involved (and they don't have a stereotype in the eyes of a lot of people), or being a family member. Maybe it's just that the ones I ran into were horrible jerks. I don't know. I can see the good and the bad for both sides though.

I can't believe this isn't one pic of a hot co-ed.

Recently the posting of hot women on Cyclonefanatic has been looked down upon, which is a shame.
 
The best day is the friday night before classes start... because all the sorority frosh girls can finally go out!! Back to school BASH anyone!!

So you are saying you have a bunch of successful friends from college. That's totally unique to Greek life ;)
