I could live with that....if he recruits better, and better gameday decisions. but having a lot of Dan McCarney is a good thing. esp the passion.
Jon is a closet Cyclone fan and gets closer and closer to getting out of that closet each day.
No he's not. He's an entertainment personality that knows when to suck up and appear to give a ****.
Then, as soon as you turn around, he's patronizing you to his friends (Hawk fans).
He's great at what he does professionally (stirring the pot to gain listeners), but I've heard his condescending remarks towards ISU too many times to ever care what he has to say any more.
Just because you have been around people like that in your life doesnt mean everyone is like that.
Jeez....like Deace never, ever was condescending towards Hawk fans on his show.
Here we were having a state of Iowa "love fest" and you try to burn it into the ground. :biglaugh:

If we got Ditka, Im pretty convinced his presence in the state would cause Kinnick to burst into flames and KF's eyes to bleed. I read a book about this kind of thing........ :wink:
Jon - you seem to be a pretty fair guy concerning most of the posts I've seen from you on this site, so it's good to hear your enthusiasm concerning Rhoads, especially considering the cyclones aren't your team. I share your enthusiasm for Rhoads and hope he does give your team something to worry about down the rhoad.
Similar story here. Born and raised in Illinois, spent 4 years in St. Louis after school, but still wanted to make roots in Iowa. Mainly because of ISU. Close to Ames in particular. Zero regrets.

I guess I'll play - Yes - It was always my goal to get back to Iowa.
I was born in Chicago (within the city limits), grew up in New Jersey until my sophomore year in high school. Since my father was from Iowa, we moved here when he had an opportunity to do so. I finished HS here and went to (and graduated from) Iowa State.
Believe it or not, I dated and married a girl from the U of I that actually is from a family steeped in Hawkeye athletic history - I am quite the black sheep in that side of the family.
We left Iowa upon graduation and lived in Arizona, Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey (again) and Utah. All the while, trying to angle our way back to Iowa to be near family. That was accomplished in 2001.
It has been a challenge to stay here, and probably will remain to be so. But I have lived in enough places to know it's good to be back, and I have no interest to stray away again.
Was gone for 5 years from the state.....Wanted to move back to be closer to ISU to be able to go to the games...Although, that's not what I told my wife.....Better opportunity, better pay, etc.
It sounds like Jon might have a man crush on an ISU coach.:biglaugh:

Funny enough, I always feel the pull to move back to Iowa but it hasn't worked out that way yet. I try to visit regularly and I was born and raised in Chicago.
What iimpresses me is when you get past the all shucks speech, he's a pretty smart man by all accounts.
