I have a brother in law that worked for smartwool so I have a pile of good socks. This Christmas he gave me some darn tough socks. I looked at him confused and said what about smartwool? He said all those kinds of socks that style are made in the same place, they just change the name. Bombas, darn tough, smartwool, and many others are the same socks.
Weird, Bombas doesn't show as being made in the U.S. Darn Tough says they are made in Vermont. Smart Wool says Tennessee and North Carolina.

I don’t know what the internet says but I know he worked in Smartwool offices in Steamboat Colorado. They merged and he got transferred to Winston Salem NC. He saw billions of socks being made for many different companies. Hated NC and moved back to CO. I have drawers full of great socks, most of them Smartwool and I didn’t pay a dime for them.

Definitely don't want to wear them all the time, but those compression socks so that you don't get DVT on long-haul flights are definitely a good investment.

Always wore smart wool running socks now I wear nothing but summer winter doesn't matter. Keep feet cool in summer with no show or ankle sock and warm in winter with mid calf. Wright sock or Smartwool PHD-

I have calves the size of some people's thighs. Mid-calf socks stay up for about 5 seconds.

My husband has the same problem. We finally found some socks that fit, stay up and do not cut into his legs called Loose Fit Stays Up.

I’ve heard once you try toe-socks you’ll never buy anything else. For some reason backpackers swear by them. I don’t get blisters when hiking so could never justify the added expense.

Darn Tough is an AMAZING brand. They last forever to the point where they are actually affordable despite high price. I go on long high altitude backpacking trips with huge temperature variations and even after wearing them for a week straight they don’t smell and they keep me from getting blisters.

I’ve also had Smartwool brand for same type of hiking. They are warm and don’t smell, but they are not as durable, I’ll get 1-2 years out of them compared to 5+ years out of Darn Tough.
Thanks for the Darn Tough recommendations. I’ve been looking for new go to socks. FIL does Duluth and loves them. I tried them but they’re way too thick for me. Just ordered a couple pairs of micro crew and looking forward to giving them a try!

The best socks ever... are the ones they sell at Scheels that are ISU, or some other sports team. They are thick and warm and perfect for the cold months.
I haven’t tried those, BUT I really like Duluth Trading co socks.

Nike no-shows, 100%. I've got 18 pairs in my drawer (6 pairs each in white, black and grey). I'll wear mid-calf Nike crews when I'm working in rainy/snowy/wet conditions and I'm wearing my Gore-Tex boots, or some mid-calf wool socks with my boots when it gets really cold. But 90+% of the time, it's no-shows.

Hey everyone that likes Darn Tough socks.
REI has 10% off if you buy 3 pairs and they are currently running a promo of if you spend $100, they'll email you a $20 GC.
