Soares Commits

Looks like all the player-related gear CF sells is here: https://cyclonefanaticshop.com/collections/players

The MEM headband is on page 2 -- here's the direct link: https://cyclonefanaticshop.com/collections/players/products/maggie-espenmiller-mcgraw-headband
The ISU WBB roster literally has links to player instagram/twitter accounts so fans can follow. Although Dawkins and Soares don't have theirs up yet.

Thanks mred!

Watching the Brazil-Columbia South American basketball on line. Soares #24 for Brazil. Moves well for a 6'-6" player who is playing forward for Brazil as they have an even taller player at center!

Brazil by far the better team. Soares started and played about 8 minutes of the first quarter then sat out until about 3 minutes left in second quarter. Scored maybe 6 points or so. Had a couple nice moves around the basket. Missed a couple 3 pointers.

But as I said, she moves like a small forward. I think she will be a nice addition to the team.

Brazil has some nice players.

Just saw that the center for Brazil is Kamilla Soares - must be Stephanie's year younger sister. She is 6'-8" and plays at South Carolina!

There is also a 23 year old Gabriella D'Arrigo Soares! 5'-9" guard. So the Brazil team.is a family business!

Stephanie is not siblings with them. I don't know if they are more distantly related or it's just a common surname in Brazil.

Note for anyone googling her: she's been going by Kamilla Cardoso (her father's surname) at South Carolina, so that's a much easier name to search.

Started, and played the first 9 minutes so far -- had 8 points, 2 boards, and an assist in that span.

Brazil was already up 11 when she was subbed out, and led by 18 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Brazil is up 54-19 at the half. Our Soares has 10 or 12 points as both Soares we're listed by last name only on the stream.

Soares has either 12 or 10 points at half. Saw a couple nice short to mid-range jump shots. Yet to hit a 3 that I saw. And she will need to practice her free throws as so far she is 0-4 from the line for the tournament.

Tight game 104-47 (not!). Soares only played about 6 minutes of the second half and scored like one basket. But she was much more effective today than yesterday.

Interviewing her after the game - in English - as the announcers speak Spanish and not Portuguese.

Well according to the accumulated total stats for two games Soares has scored 20 points. If she had 4 points yesterday then she had 16 today. Shooting just under 60 percent from the floor.

I've seen parts of some other games and from what I have seen, Brazil is the best team. Plus they have height that most team do not.

Next game is today at 4:30 (last game of group play) vs Chile. https://www.fiba.basketball/sudamericanofemenino/2022/game/0308/Brazil-Chile

Chile beat Uruguay by 12, whom Brazil beat by 57 (45 point difference).
Chile lost to Colombia by 31, whom Brazil beat by 29 (60 point difference).

So I'd expect a Brazil victory.

After that, they take Thursday off, then have playoffs Friday-Saturday. The top two teams in each group play a four-team two-round tournament for 1-2-3-4 and the bottom two teams do the same for 5-6-7-8.

Argentina (in the other group) is clearly the only team in the tournament with any reasonable shot at beating Brazil. In the semis, Argentina will most likely play Colombia while Brazil will probably play Venezuela.

41-6 in the second quarter. And you thought this would be a blowout...
