So who could we get?

I could totally see Pollard picking some ex-player who has no coaching experience because it's worked with Fred. Though, it would backfire on him this time.

Need to get someone in here that's offensive minded, unlike the past 80 coaches at ISU.

OK, you may be right, but what's the worst thing that could happen? He'd say "thanks but no thanks." So what?
My concern with Pollard is that he's not aggressive enough in coaching searches. He offers jobs to guys who he knows will take it. CPR was unemployed when Pollard offered him. Hoiberg said that he was just hoping for a second interview, but instead was offered the job on the spot. Said he assumed JP had other candidates to talk to first.

I agree, would take him in a heartbeat. I think we are going to have to gamble on someone that can prove themselves at ISU. BBall was different, Hoiberg knew ISU had and could be successful. It's just frustrating. We see many other schools (Boise State, Colo State, Baylor, Louisville, East Carolina, etc) with nothing more to offer than we have get it done.

Guess this is why Jamie gets the big $$$. How he handles CPR now and if that means a new coach will probably determine his overall legacy.

I wish we could find a guy that had proven head coaching experience in the big 12. A BCS win. A national championship as an offensive coordinator as well as another 11-0 season. And has a coaching pedigree from one of the greatest college football coaches of all time.

Where in the world could we find a guy like that. Probably only a pipe dream. He'd never want to be at a place like iowa state.

Not sure why you guys are even worrying about this cause CPR isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Say what you want about the man, but Gene Chizik was a huge splash of a hire.

Defense is the key. Offense is sexy, but the best way for ISU to differentiate itself from WVU, TT, OSU, KU is a fundamentally solid defense. It all starts with the front 7.

The frustration with the last couple years of the Rhoads tenure is his background is defense and our defense seems to be getting worse each year.
