I recall a similar thread but I cannot find it, so please merge if needed.

As unhappy as I am now, who could we expect to get to coach this team? Yes, this is a loser's mentality, but really. Who could we possibly get? There aren't a lot of Fred Hoibergs wandering around out there.

Pat Narduzzi - DC Mich State
Scott Frost - OC Oregon
Justin Fuente - HC Memphis
Jim McElwain - HC Colo State
Lance Leipold - HC Wisconsin-Whitewater

Make a play for McElwain - he would come.

Why isn't Danny Mac on your list?

Watching CPR in post game leaves me with little to no hope for the future.

Any up and coming coach that wants to win would be dumb to take this job. Its not a good coaching gig unless you are in it to just make money. What would make any coach look at our history and location and think he could do better than a minor bowl game every once in a while.

Somebody asks for a list. You give them a list that has realistic options and you get crap for it. Not sure I get it. Leipold is an interesting option. Head Coach experience. Winner. People forget that when Stanford hired Jim Harbaugh he came from the University of San Diego. USD, not San Diego State. USD is a non scholarship program that is the equivalent of Drake. He took a pathetic Stanford program and brought it back to life in about two years. Stanford has lousy fan support and tough academics. He found players and assistant coaches and built a foundation. There's a long list of guys from those kind of smaller schools that could do a better job than is being done now.

I don't think so, he will have his sites set higher. Would expect him to end up at someplace like Florida.

Would take him in a heartbeat though. His lines are dominant.

OK, you may be right, but what's the worst thing that could happen? He'd say "thanks but no thanks." So what?
My concern with Pollard is that he's not aggressive enough in coaching searches. He offers jobs to guys who he knows will take it. CPR was unemployed when Pollard offered him. Hoiberg said that he was just hoping for a second interview, but instead was offered the job on the spot. Said he assumed JP had other candidates to talk to first.
