Personally, I think Orlando is the tacky souvenir stand of Florida. The rest of Florida is the crap hole of Florida (although southwestern Florida isn't so bad).

I've never been to the panhandle. I do have a couple of friends with homes there and they seem to like it but they also make a lot more money than I do.

I was in Panama City area post-spring break in college so probably not the most fair assessment but was a good enough 'taste' to know I had no reason to go back really.

We drove down from Atlanta. Georgia, Florida it was all just the sticks for most of that trip. Sorta like how when you get south of Des Moines it's tough to tell any difference between southern Iowa and northern MO until you hit KC.

The panhandle is nice. It’s an armpit if you get far north at all from the beach but I’ve enjoyed each time I’ve been there.
