Relevant portion of the NWS discussion:

THURSDAY WL SEE WARMER AIR CONTINUING TO MOVE INTO THE STATE ON SOUTHEAST WINDS.SOUNDINGS IN THE SOUTH REMAIN GENERALLY UNSATURATED AND HAVE LEFTTHE SOUTH DRY. THE BETTER SATURATION PERSIST IN THE NORTH AND HAVE THE THREAT OF FREEZING PCPN INTO THURSDAY...ALTHOUGH SOUTHERN
PORTIONS OF THE PCPN AREA WOULD LIKELY GO TO SPRINKLES AS AFTERNOON
TEMPS RISE SLIGHTLY ABOVE FREEZING. STRONGER ISENTROPIC LIFT
ARRIVES LATE THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY AS UPPER SYSTEM ADVECTS FROM
THE CENTRAL ROCKIES INTO THE PLAINS. THE WHOLE SOUNDINGS SATURATE
AND SNOW WILL BECOME PREFERRED PCPN TYPE AS ICE INTRODUCTION BEGINS.
STEADY ISENTROPIC LIFT IS EXPECTED INTO FRIDAY EVENING BEFORE A
SURGE OF DRIER AIR COMES IN FROM THE EAST. ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL OF
2 TO 5 INCHES IS EXPECTED IN MOST LOCATIONS WITH LIGHTEST AMOUNTS IN
OUR NORTHEAST FROM KALO TO KMCW WHERE SYSTEM WILL BE FIGHTING A DRY
EASTERLY FLOW. HIGHER AMOUNTS IN THE WEST AND SOUTH ARE EXPECT AND
MAY END UP BEING A LOW END ADVISORY THERE.

Could actually be a bit low on the amounts as in general the models have trended a towards a moister system over the past few runs.

Great.

Should make for an interesting BuRP (Bike Ride to Perry) ride Friday night. A few of us ride Ames to Perry the night (like 5 to midnight) before the BRR. As long as it isn't icy like it has been a couple of years we should be okay.

Edit: And before some of the road nazi's start laying into me about this, I assure you our bikes are lit up like Christmas trees. None of those cheap $10 bike lights here.

I have some family that rides BRR. Watch out for the motorized idiots that don't share the road. Enjoy!

I've been out after dark on BRR ... ONCE!

Lesson learned.

Little nervous about this ride if some weather moves in. Don't have the mountain bike any longer and not crazy about the thought of county roads, ice/snow and the slicks on the road bike.

I have no sympathy for people on bikes that ride on the road when there is a sidewalk 4 feet away. I know that BRR and RAGBRAI are different situations but people that get hit on bikes (especially after dark) for riding on the road pretty much deserve it...

Its going to be too warm to do anything.
32 on thurs and 33 on wed. Should be fine. unless you live in northern IA then you might get some ice on the roads.

Minus it being against the law to ride a bike on the sidewalk, I totally agree with you. Wait a minute....

Good thinking; could use some anti-freeze...

Cool! I hadn't seen that before. I like everything except the videos -- the liquid coming out of the spigot on the front of the cooler makes me think of something else, especially the lighter colored liquids.

THERE HE IS! I knew THAT GUY was out there!

Back to the weather report...
