Extremely unlikely that this case is connected. I'm not going to revel any details, but knowing some of the details I can tell you that it was an accident.
Does it seem strange to anyone else that the article states "investigators have found no indication of foul play" yet in the line before it it states that the autopsy shows the kid died as the result of drowning AND BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA TO THE HEAD?
I am sure some of these if you look at data long enough you will find something. If it matters or not is a different question.
We probably dont have CSI: Miami working to the case so they couldnt go completely into what type of trauma but it probably looked like a slip and fall onto a rock or something trauma.

I mean, when I see or hear the term "blunt force trauma", I am thinking someone got hit with something like a baseball bat.
I have seen and heard medical examiners reports of someone who fell and hit their heads and died, and that's pretty much how the medical examiner describes it in their report.
Blunt force trauma isn't a subjective term. It's an objective definition of a type of injury. "Fell and hit his head" would be a person's opinion (explanation) of how the injury occurred.
This is all stupid. Your going to tell me that a group of people or a person attacked a student in campustown on a friday night and no one saw anything?
It's good to know that he wasn't drunk. It is felt that the SFK probably drug the victims first with GHB ("date rape drug") or something similar, and then force feed them alcohol, which makes the drunken drowning story believable (at least believable to the police). One victim was found drowned with a blood alcohol level of 0.40, this many miles and many hours away from where he was drinking. Probably with a BAC of 0.40, you would collapse in a heap about 10 feet from the bar.
Abel Belanos was spotted by people just before going in the lake, but no one seemed to hear or see that.
Jon Lacina disappeared from Campustown, on foot. There are only so many places he can be, unless he was taken somewhere.
So although it's jumping to conclusions, yes, it's possible. And it's not totally implausible.
Yeah, it's pretty creepy that it seems that they use cell phone jammers. Most folks would just grab for their cell phone if they were being attacked.
