Shoutout Rocco Becht

I don’t think that the QB position is our problem…
Agree. I think if he was a better runner it'd add a threat but overall, he's bottom of the list of what is wrong with the offense. And maybe he's a better runner than is being allowed to be shown. That's also very possible.

What if we let Rocco go out there and be a gun slinger? Just try it once, what do we have to lose? Might throw a couple pics, but I remember saint Brock throwing a few that lit these forums on fire.

This is going to sound weird, but I would make the change to JJ even though I know for a fact this isn’t Rocco’s fault. He has played just fine, I just don’t think they can win playing this way and JJ may ignite some fire into this pathetic offense. If they could actually run the ball it is a different story. The only chance is to air it out and see what happens.

He just seems to fold early when he has wide open space… his arm is impressive …
I just mean, there were times where Ohio's LBs seemed to close the space really quick. Like it looked like he could run for a bit but then I blinked and they were there. Even the announcers seemed surprise once.

His arm is good enough yes. He has a very good quick release. Accurate. And can make every throw. Deep accurracy is not always there but again, he's young. Hopefully that will continue to improve over time.

Honestly, I'd roll with Sama and Hansen at RB. Bitter, Higgins, Jackson / Noel at WR. And I don't really care but even though I know I'll see Hufford and Miller and probably Simmons, I'd rather not see those 3

Rocco has shown he can play a faster more wide open way.

Today had the chance to be a 'do what's needed to win even if we don't want to always do that' kind of day and instead it was used as a way to work on the run game.

His deep balls to Bitter and intermediate ones to Daniel Jackson and Higgins looked good.

Interesting thought: if rest of this year goes totally awful is Scheelhaase out after one year? Matt may have to make a change twice in back to back years. And by the way that will be his last chance

Nate is clearly being handcuffed by Campbell. This is the exact same offense we saw last year

Yes. By controlling EVERYTHING related to the offense he has got us last in the country. We were like #111 in offense nationally BEFORE today.

After today we have to be like last nationally 1/4 of the way through season.

I am getting married the day of the Oklahoma game I'm actually quite content to miss that one at this point.

Yep. A couple light things here and there are different, but the overall mentality (that was the #1 problem) is still the exact same. For Campbell, "complimentary football" is the goal on offense. Most coaches want to score when they have it, but we don't want to ever give the D a break.

Back to the main point, big agree in regards to Rocco. He looked good! Let him play! It essentially cannot get worse and you may even be okay on that side if you stop shooting shotguns at your own feet repeatedly by trying to be something you're not on offense.

Agree. We need to maximize ceiling not alleviate the floor at this point.

Rocco is playing well, partly because teams are loading up to stop the run and the passing game is working. CMC needs to change his approach and pass first to open up the run. Might want to consult one of the best and most respected Defensive minds in the game and ask for a few thoughts. Sending JJ out there now would be a good way to ruin his confidence, he is not up to the speed of the game yet.

I like Rocco too, but there’s no way our coaching staff changes anything. They would rather lose than take a different approach.
We're at the point of insanity with Campbell's offense. Just repeating the same unsuccessful thing, hoping for a better result. Rocco can move and sling the ball, but he's mostly handcuffed because we're supposed to establish the run. That's how you play football. In the 80's.

I don’t care about confidence, he needs experience at this point. If he’s a stud, there shouldn’t be any kind of confidence issues regardless of what happens.
