Let me preface this by saying that I'm not trying to bash this guy or anything because he is typically such a consistent performer, but should McKay be starting over Hogue at this point? It seems we always struggle a little on defense early on and then McKay comes in and we kind of find a groove defensively. He just brings a special element to the team and is definitely one of our 5 best players.

Hogue is definitely a starting caliber player, but I could also see him being an effective 6th man that plays 25-30 mins/game due to his energy. He also seems like the type of kid that would do what's best for the team if needed.

Again, not overreacting about a tough road loss against the #22 team in the country, just a thought that I'd be interested in others' opinions. I just feel that Jameel is such an impactful player that he needs to start the game on the floor.

I think our line up is fine as is. I'd rather just keep subbing in McKay for whichever starter is playing the worst at the time instead.

Everytime he's in I think why isn't he a starter, but I also couldn't choose a starter for him to replace. Lucky for me I just get to sit back and enjoy Fred's decision making.

Exactly my feelings as well. I just feel there's something to be said for setting a tone early defensively, and feEl that McKay would help with that.

I feel like playing McKay is kind of a double edged sword. On one hand, our defense gets immensely better when he is on the floor cause he is very good at blocking/altering shots. On the other, it seem like his lack of offensive versatility, ability to be a threat from long range and clogging up the paint tend to hurt the offense.

Jameel misses way to many shots at point-blank range. When he has the ball down deep in the lane, he just needs to go vertical and slam it home.

Well if you're talking about the WVU game getting shoved in the back on almost every shot or put back had something to do with not being able to finish.

If getting off to a good start is important, then I'd say yes at this point. Not sure it's Hogue that should start on bench though

No, he's too valuable off the bench. This team is fine, they lost by 1 point on the road against a ranked team.

Also, its not if you start, but its how many minutes you get and who is on the floor at the end of the game. I didn't see Dustin playing much at the end.

Although if teams scout us, McKay will get the hack a shaq treatment if we are up at the end of a game.

If he can play 32-35 minutes, IMO he absolutely should. We are so much better rebounding and defensively when he is on the floor

I just feel like Hogue is not a starter at this point. He's not playing good bball. He had one good game vs. Okie St. Otherwise he's been at the center of bad turnovers and bad fouls. I'd start McKay over Hogue for sure.
