Que the bringing back over reaction post after next win. Ps I’m sick of playing Iowa in the first couple weeks. Iowa is almost the same team at the beginning of the season, Iowa state is a completely different team at the beginning to end of season

Should we bench the QB who holds like 473 Iowa State QB records for a QB who we've seen throw it 40 times?

Or should our offensive coordinator design and call plays that better fit his ability to hit intermediate throws and use his legs on more play action?

One of those is a lot more likely to happen mid season.

Manning is who he is, and that's a good developer of O-line talent who has been promoted out of his depth. He's entirely uncreative as a play caller unless there's a guy like Hakeem Butler out there Moss-ing d-backs. He loves nothing more than handoffs inside the tackles on 1st down and it either will beat a team or it won't, because he's not changing it up.

I don't just jump to the backup because the starter is struggling, but Purdy was a stud when he was free-balling his first 2 years. Manning has turned him into a weak overly scripted player. The best thing he could do is sit a game or two and get back to having fun. You can tell he's struggling to make the reads, he's not seeing the linemen right in front of him, and he has lost touch with his receivers.

Dekkers will develop into a good player IF Manning leaves. He has a nice touch and doesn't tend to overthrow his receivers, which are the passes that get Purdy into trouble as they are much more likely to be tipped or intercepted.

Ho about we fire Manning and let Breece and Brock call the plays?

Butler mossing guys didn't reflect Manning's creativity.

I don't think that's what you meant necessarily, just making sure that's clarified.

How much were those picks on Purdy though? Not saying he played good at all but if we had a WR that could catch a ball almost all of those picks don’t even happen. Not to mention Manning’s playcalling was once again inept

I remember being told my worries about Manning were very dumb and irrational over the off-season. I was concerned his lack of creativity as a playcaller would limit this teams' ceiling substantially.

I think he's a good coach, just not a good enough playcaller for this team to reach the goals they've set for themselves.

OK, ISU fans, if you really think Brock is done, I will trade him for Petras right now...... would you be good with that?

Have to decline the offer. But at least Iowa is pretty good at winning games even with less than stellar QB play.

Dekkers came in during garbage time when the Hawks were playing their soft defense trying to chew up clock. I like Dekkers, wish him well since he is an Iowa kid, but I wouldn't give up on Purdy...tipped balls, right place, right time. I thought the first one was just an absolute killer because you guys had something going with those 10-15 yard outs plus the crosses on the previous series. Trying to hit a home run from inside your ten was just bad decision making.
