Shooters for next year?

Not really, if you just have a big man who can score inside that pulls the defense in to protect/defend that threat and thus leaves shooters more space....
I think you just said what I said. Point I was making is it requires the big to make the kick out pass. Which doesn't happen often. But as many times the guards make a post entry pass I guess i don't blame the bigs from not kicking out since they might not get the ball again.

McNeil and Lewis both can shoot.. McNeil might be too light to play next year but we'll see..I do think we grab a grad transfer combo guard that can shoot FWIW..or a PF transfer that can..
Don't forget the TN transfer, Tsongo, (sp) who is sitting out this year - someone remind me of his speciality please.

At this point that Niang/Ejim/White post isn't on the roster. In the staff's defense Malou would have been that guy and losing him late left them with a hole.

The one issue with having both Naz and Matt on the floor at the same time is their game is very similar, great set shooters who rarely slash to the rim. If Monte of Burton isn't getting to the paint their defenders area lowed to just stick to them. ISU made the run Friday when Donovan and Weller-Babb were probing passing out to open Monte/Donovan. Moving forward I think ISU will need more penetration and dish out from the guards and Burton to Naz and Matt at their spots on the perimeter to get their percentages up. I see lineups with more time for Jackson and Babb subbing for either Matt or Naz to add that element to the offence.

I disagree with one thing. Matt is a good spot up shooter, Naz is better when he's either running and pulling up or pumps, takes a dribble and then shoots.

Naz is so much more effective when he's a threat to slash to the rim - about a 63% career shooter from two. He needs to think less Steph Curry sometimes.

Good observation. A lot of us were sitting in the stands at the Capital City...um, exhibition league, saying pretty much the same thing about Naz: "Maybe knock off the Steph Curry schtick and work on getting back to your game."

I think we'll have to just for the sake of balancing out the scholarships per graduating class. If we can snag a good shooter that will be a win win.

Babb doesn't look like a shooter.

I wouldn't say that. I would say that this year, he doesn't look to shoot much. He's only taken 62 shots and only 12 of them from three. That's actually more than I would have guessed, but he seems to pass on a lot of open ones. He's certainly not the kind of shooter that Matt and Naz are, but he brings a lot more athleticism to his game than they do.

Well he hasn't shown he is an outside shooter yet. I think he could become one though.

I added to my post as you were replying. He's not Matt or Naz for sure, or certainly hasn't shown us that kind of stroke yet. I think his other abilities make him dangerous in other ways (and who knows, Buddy Hield wasn't the same Buddy Hield from three at the beginning of his career either)

yeah, agree. I think he looks like someone who can really take it to the rim, he can pass, he can play defense. I think if he puts it all together he can be a really good player.

Long is more than capable when he drives. Against Tech he didn't miss inside the arc. He also went 6/6 from the stripe. That's a positive trend he should stick with. He's got the size and quickness to slash. All that said... he needs to stay under control. He can get a little errant with passes and decision making.

As of today:

2. Oklahoma 12 93 235 . 3 9 6
3. Texas Tech 13 85 218 . 3 9 0
4. Oklahoma State 13 120 310 . 3 8 7
5. Baylor 13 93 242 . 3 8 4
6. Kansas State 13 100 265 . 3 7 7

Maybe a better question is where do we find shooters this year?
