Seneca Wallace's Wingstop

Based on the picture, I think this would have been a great addition to Campustown. However, I can understand why business set up shop on Duff. I think the Ames community still stays away from Campustown and any business there is to serve students.

I think it is a business model thing. Most of their stores are almost all carryout so you need to be in high traffic areas with easy parking. As boring as they are, that is a strip center.

I just looked at my receipt from a recent work trip stop at BWW - medium wings was $15.99 - beer was $7.95 - tax was $1.80, tip was $5 = $30.74. For wings and one beer. For one person. That's insane.

Decent food, good atmosphere, waaaaaay high prices.

That's crazy. First wings I had were at Ground Round in the 80s. They were free in the bar as long as you were drinking. They kept putting out trays of them for people to graze on. Eventually, after a year, they started charging 5 cents each.

Historical sidebar (for benefit of the youngin's), BWW on Merle Hay Rd sits on the site of the former Ground Round.

I agree, for that kind of money, stop at Fareway and get a porterhouse steak or two for the grill.

I'm guessing the Des Moines location(s) will not have a Cyclone theme...which I completely get. When you're dropping that kind of money on a franchise, you don't want to limit your market-share. Makes a ton of sense in Ames though to go all out.

I assume people will also be complaining about Wingstop as well. Those medium wings include 15 wings for $15.99 at BWW. Wingstop has them for $14.99. Beer doesn't look to be available so your bill will be $1.06 cheaper

The only thing I remember about Ground Round is that their sundaes came in those miniature plastic baseball helmets. I’m pretty sure my parents might still have some floating around in their basement. I’m not sure if it was a regional thing or a limited time type of deal.

But assuming a 7% return, that $1.06 could grow to $15.87 by the time I retire.

The most import thing is that people are saving up and paying cash for these wings and not financing them or leasing them.

(advanced apologies to those that don't follow the car buying threads)

I typically get a cash advance from my credit card company to buy wings. Sometimes, I'll get a HELOC. They're basically free at that point.

But I don't think BWW medium wings comes with fries. At Wingstop, you get fires and a drink with your order at that price. However, I do think BWW has a lunch special that comes with fries too.

Look again at the menu and try to order just 15 wings/no fries. $14.99.

Wait, why are all of you talking about B-Dubs? I thought they had some Hawkeye **** up in the Ames store and we are all boycotting it?

I'm not really sure about all these prices comparing BWW and WS but what I do know is when you eat at this Wing Stop, you're supporting an Iowa state legend. When I eat at Wing Stop, I'm gonna like knowing that Seneca owns it.
