Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Exactly this.

It is where they were with Alford though so I expect the Express Train to 'Pack Your Bag's' starts to roll next year. Remember, this is a fan base that ran Tom Davis out of town and that Lute Olson couldn't wait to run from.

We have to temper our expectations - Still say Franny Pants has one, maybe two years left. They probably qualify for NCAA next year as one of 7 B1G teams do, lose in first round. I think the wheels come off the following year though. That is the year Hok Fan will expect the Final Four run and I bet they are 3 seed in the NIT.

I laugh how they ran Dr. Tom out for not taking them to the next level, yet are okay with Fran who is one-two levels below Dr. Tom. Good thing the stain of Lick is still entrenched with that fanbase, so I see Fran getting chased out when he doesn't do anything with his sons (who they think are 5-star recruits) after playing there.

Is Connor McCaffrey. PG? Is he even a SG? Why do most Iowa fans think he will play PG in college?

From what I have seen, I think he's a baseball player. He usually runs and stands in the corner every basketball game I have seen him in. I think he is a small forward at the moment. Haven't seen anything to convince me he could play point guard,

To be fair, ISU did the exact same thing with McCarney. We just didn't bottom out as bad.

Judging by the crowd, the B1G tournament in DC experiment is probably not going as well as the conference envisioned with Michigan, Wisconsin, Northwestern, and Minnesota the last ones standing.

He'll be a good enough combo to go with the little guy they have now. They complement each other.

Iowa's always been UNI lite, but they're going to be a UNI All-Star team soon. They're making it tough on their peer in Cedar Falls getting guys like Gessell 2.0, Baer, Pemsel, McCaffery, etc. A lot of solid basketball players. Westkamp too.

Jok is an elite shooter even by NBA standards. There are most certainly not a surplus of NBA players with his shooting ability.

And it's pretty comical that your (inaccurate) reasoning actually applies to Morris moreso than Jok. Morris doesn't possess any elite traits. Average athlete, average shooter, average defender, not a particularly adept passer. I guess he's really good at not turning it over, though? I'm sure that will get him on an All-Star team someday.

Saw the McCaffery boys at the state finals. Connor had some points, seemed to shoot a lot of free throws. He was guarded most of the game by a player seven inches shorter than him, Valley player #2. At one point, #2 blocked him from behind but they called a BS foul.

I'm not sure if you call it playing point guard when you dribble it up the floor sometimes with no one defending you and then don't really run the offense. When they wanted to dribble out some clock they had Lane do it.

The Curry kid from Valley looked solid, too bad he has had the leg injury issues.

The younger Fran spawn looked a little more athletic, although his numbers not as good.

Fran will have about 10 small forwards on the roster by Pat's time, I seriously have no idea what his recruiting strategy is these days other than not getting any PG's.

Awesome super jealous and super ignorant thread:
https://iowa.forums.rivals.com/threads/iowa-state-fans-annoy-me.184102/

One of my favorite parts is bashing our schedule and saying Iowa would have dominated with our schedule. Our BPI SOS is at #5 now before playing WVU again, there's a good chance we'll have have a #2 or #3 schedule out of 351 teams entering the tournament. (Iowa's is 46 btw)

Lol. Look at this gem:

Iowans by and large are an insufferable bunch of dipsh*t sports fans. If I weren't burdened with caring about Hawkeye athletics I'd relish being away from all you knuckleheads in a part of the country that couldn't give two licks about any college from a state that starts with 'I.' If I didn't bleed black and gold I wouldn't necessarily hate both sides equally as much as forget about them immediately.

But alas, here I am. And here they are.
So screw that second-rate ag school with their little brother mentality, their corner-cutting basketball program, and their subsidized train-wreck of a football program that leeches off the success and finances that in a perfect world would funnel only to Iowa City. Oh, to be Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Nebraska... I hope little bro loses every game in every sport until their sorry-ass campus gets swallowed up by the void of irrelevance from whence they came. The Big 12 can't die soon enough

Tony Kornheiser was going off on this in his podcast this week. No one showed up and no one cared. Not only in the arena, but also on TV. Having your own network is great as long as people think to search it out. All the rest of the P5 conferences had some games on ESPN so they were easier to find.

It's only going to get worse next year when the Big10 goes to MSG but have to move their tourney up a week to avoid the Big East already playing there. Big10 will be playing along side their mid-major brethren.

Which basketball program is cutting corner? Gee, didn't Iowa sign a convicted felon?

How did ISU cut corners? We keep hearing Iowa is doing it the right way, I guess the right way had nothing to do with winning. I guess the right way is getting recruits and building a roster of kids that have been Iowa fans their whole life. I guess doing it the right way requires a rebuild 5 years in, and I am not even sure what they are rebuilding from. To build a program you have to develop kids, is Fran doing that. To build a program you have to get kids that have ability to become better and not peak as Freshman, is Fran doing that.

What time is the NIT selection show and do they do the 'live living room look ins' like they do for the NCAA tourney? Will the be at Fran's residence?

Don't for a second think Iowa fans haven't talked themselves into having a chance at the field of 68 today. I have already seen arguments that the Omaha loss isn''t bad.
