Since you have so much time on your hands why dont you go lookup how many 13 seeds go on to win the 2nd game after upsetting the 4 seed. I guarantee you the odds arent good, so yeah I would consider than a little bit of luck that we played them.
If Iowa football is relevant nationally it's for getting boat raced in bowl games...

81- Won the Big 10 and made the Rose Bowl. Finished #18 in final AP poll.
82 - Finished 8-4 and won the Peach Bowl
83 - Finished 9-3 and #14 in final AP poll.
84 - Finished #16 iin final AP poll and won the Freedom Bowl.
85 - Finished 10-2, won the Big 10 and made the Rose Bowl. Finished #10 in final AP poll.
86 - Finished 9-3, won the Holiday Bowl and ended at #16 in AP poll.
87 - Finished 10-3, won the Holiday Bowl and finished at #16 in AP poll.

Iowa football is more relevant on a national level than ISU basketball. I dont even think its that close.
