Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

for prep recruits I agree, if Lewis or McNeill contribute big minutes It will be a surprise, although I think Lewis is progressing more than even our staff expected in his final your in HS. But I am talking about the JuCo guys we are going after, we need help to solidify our front line, and I am really liking a few of the guys we are going after, think they could be immediate impact players even if they aren't putting up double doubles, a Dustin Hogue type role-player is what the team next year needs desperately, talent will be there but who is going to be the emotional leader who embodies the persona of that team? Idk, but I think We will add a couple if not 3 more pieces to our class by the time it is all said and done.

I think sometimes us fans just put too many expectations on these Fr coming in. Most need time to adjust. I think ISU fans might want to temper what to expect next year and just hope the team develops and gets better all season long.

That is why Hawk fans are excited about the future. Iowa is clearly playing its best Basketball now at the end of the season, which bodes well for next year when we have so many PPG, RPG, APG, and MPG returning.

If only there were a way to settle this on the court, oh wait, 78-64.

Also, Iowa is 4-3 against ranked teams this year while ISU is 2-5. Iowa played 9 conference games against tournament teams in the 'weak' BIG while ISU played 8 conference games against tournament teams.

Last time Iowa started 3 freshman was Gesell, Clemmons and Woodbury right?

ISU has a better chance to win the Big XII tournament than hoks have of making the NCAA tournament.

And Wiggins is going to take about two games to be better than anyone the hoks have. It's not just about who you return, you gotta be able to recruit too.

Agreed. But I say that now, and I know once we lose a couple games early in conference next year, I will see the same things being said on here haha. I am expecting us to be right around the bubble all season, and will be upset if we miss the NCAA tournament, although I know it is a very real possibility if some of our players dont step up and grow as quickly as we need.

It was a tough year as a Hawk fan. You never like losing, but you just gotta keep in mind how young everyone was and hope you see them continue to progress.

Outside of Wiggington ISU doesn't have a difference maker coming in. If you are outside the top 100 recruits, typically it take a year or two. Heck Thomas as a top 50ish player needed 2 years to hit his stride.

Hold up.

2016: Pemsl #232, Bohannon #299, Kriener #304 2015: Moss #241, Wagner #272.

2017: Lewis #120, Lard #146, McNeill #232 2016: Long #126

No difference maker? You're going off of national rankings, so none of those Iowa guys are difference makers?

Yeah, that is where everyone is with ISU Fball, but it is easier to accept that mindset when you've had 2-3 losing seasons in a row haha. Don't think anyone expects a huge drop off from MBB next year, but expecting a 20 win season is craziness

I know this might be foreign to you guys this year but his role is to play defense.

But you would think he would have gotten a put back or something. Plus, ISU gave up 87, so his defense couldn't have been that great.

Yeah he usually does score. ISU didn't play well on Friday but they are a good defensive team and he's a very good post defender

Except most of these guys have really low ceilings. Outside of Cook you shouldn't expect much more out of these group of non athletes. #NITforlife
