I'd rather them be a 3 so they play Thursday night, instead of Thursday morning. That would make Thursday a lot more fun down there, at least to me.Actually, the 4 seed is my preference. Bounce KU on Friday night in the semi's and a crap load of tickets will be available for the championship game.
Another year. What happens when they don't make the tournament next year? Does Fran get fired or do they give him one more year?
I'm curious if they'll accept a CBI bid. Not many Power 5 teams play in it. It's funny to hear their fans try to make themselves feel better by claiming that they didn't think they would be good this year. Before the season, 3/4 of them thought they'd make the NCAA tournament, something that gets conveniently forgotten. They've pretty clearly under-performed compared to the expectations of a large number of their fans.

They have performed exactly on par for the talent and coaching. That is the most maddening thing for them.I'm curious if they'll accept a CBI bid. Not many Power 5 teams play in it. They often seem to confuse mediocre with good over there. I think he gets a few more years because they think they have talent. Not sure how they can think that when they have Jordan Bohannon and Brady Ellingson as their starting guards next year. We should drop 100 on them next yearProbably gets extended if they can make another deep NIT run.

I'm sure it is. According to the narrative, Iowa State was supposed to be the school that had down years. The Clones took the shortcut to success, but it wasn't sustainable. Fran was doing it the right way, so even though it might take a little longer to get there, once Iowa got up the mountain, they wouldn't be coming down.
Remember at the end of last year? So many of their fans couldn't wait to be done with Gesell, Woody, and Uthoff. So many claims that they'd be a better "team" in 16-17. Now, you're hearing the same thing, only about Jok. Same as it ever was. "Hawk fans grow to dislike their upperclassmen players?" Here's my shocked face.
Exactly.
You should also spend the majority of your income on pallmalls and scratch off lottery tickets, as well as enjoy the comedy of Larry the cable guy
Where the hell are the Hawkeyes?
I like the spin going on now on Hok boards. There's a lot of "We'd be better without Jok" talk going on. Hilarious. Leading scorer in the big 10, but meh, they'd be better without him...
Not only is Jok their leading scorer, he's their leading rebounder by a significant margin. He had 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in their latest loss he's being blamed for, he also had 5 TOs, but that's still a lot of production. 5 TOs in a loss has little to do with him being the best rebounder on the court for them almost every night.
They may be better next year (who knows, it's a total crap shoot) but it won't be because their lost their best scorer in years.

Uhhhh did you see how awesome they were against Ohio State and Rutgers when Jok was out?????
Yeah, I like that that's the mountain of evidence they've got to prove that they're better off without Jok. Home games against the worst team in the conference, and a bad OSU team without Diop, who is one of their better players, don't mean much at all.
Considering that 3/4 of Hawk fans thought they'd make the NCAA tourney, I'd say the season didn't meet expectations. I'm just curious if any Hawk fans will admit it.
