I think the bar was just set so low, that just about any coach with a pulse could've generated a little excitement. To be honest, last year I thought maybe they had turned a corner, but then they had their classic meltdown season and it became obvious to me that Fran really doesn't know what he's doing. I can't see how any Iowa fan could be optimistic about their future with him.

No, Iowa State. In the span of 45 minutes at an Iowa tailgate, with an iowa state shirt on, I got numerous full, unopened beers thrown at me, people on the deck above my group wouldn't stop chanting at us and pouring beer on us, a dizzy bat player purposely didnt swing at the can and ran directly at the iowa state crowd swinging the bat, a drunken fan completely ripped my friends shirt down the front so her tits were out the rest of the day, numerous fights tried to be started solely because my friends and I were wearing red. And the worst of it was, they wouldn't even go out after the game to live up to all the bull **** they talked.

Yeah, that doesnt surprise me from other stories Ive heard. I dont understand it really, we are all Iowans, I dont get the hate.
Then you can see that they are a bad team who is losing their best player next year. The future is very bleak for Iowa basketball.
So why were you saying they were ahead of 7 teams in the conference which isn't true by any standing or metric if you prefer RPI?

My alma mater isn't Coe. And, they sure looked serviceable against Iowa State's elite senior laden backcourt.
Big 10 schedule is so cushy. Not only are the bottom teams terrible, and the top teams mediocre on the road, but they also have like two weeks each season that they only have 1 game.
Yeah it was their superbowl, but they sure didn't look serviceable against Omaha.
Bottom of the Big 10 is really horrible at basketball, no question about it.

Big Pirates fan here. MLB is by far my favorite sport to watch, and the Pirates are by far my favorite sports team.
