Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

He seems to be able to get his shot off as a freshman. Handles the ball decent and runs the offense decently. Idk what the big stick up your ass is about him? He's average and he's a freshman.

He's shooting 35% from the field in a weak conference. I don't have a problem with him at all, I think calling him average is generous especially if you consider his defense

Nope, my bad, I was confusing football with basketball. Gotta read a little closer I guess.....

Well, I can understand the confusion. We were talking basketball until CyTwins decided to throw in some obscure football stats in order to prove his superior knowledge to everyone on here.

Go talk to a P5 coach and say hey man, "wins aren't the only thing that matter, you can't forget about that KenPom rating, RPI rating, and Jeff Sargarin rating." See what they would say. They play games for a reason, to see who wins and loses. If they wanted to go off of ratings, then why even play a game? Winning or lack there of, makes your rating go up or down dumbass. So really, winning is what drives everything.

And go talk to a 23 win Valpraiso team at the end of the year and let me know if they aren't looking up hoping to be in even a 17 or 18 win ISU's shoes.

Matt Thomas shot the same percentages as a freshman and a sophomore and he was more highly regarded than Bohannon. Matt sure improved mightily, so why can't another player?

Because Matt was never the defensive liability that JBO is and Your coach has allowed many if not most of his players to regress, ISU has a history of making its players better over the 4 years. Check the recent history.

Their ratings suck because they suck. They aren't better than 7 other Big Ten teams like Hawkeye homer boy tried implying

Whether they are better than 7 teams below them is debateable. Theyve already beaten alot of those teams with similiar records like Michigan and Ohio State and Nebraska. So to say they are better is questionable, but you certainly cant say they are any worse than some of those teams when they have beaten alot of them head-head.

They aren't ahead of 7 teams and wins are all that matters you said. They only have more wins than two teams (Rutgers and Nebraska) and Nebraska beat they split with Nebraska head to head.

Honest question, what is your favorite metric. KenPom? RPI? Sagarin? BPI? You obviously don't just go off W/L

You honestly think Jok makes that much a difference? They already won 3 games without him. Just because a guy scores a ton of points doesnt mean the team is going to be good then suck when hes gone.

Some of the highest scorers each year in the NCAA play on crap teams, so putting up 25 a game doesnt equate to winning basketball like you think. That freshman kid at Washington is putting up 23 a game and they still suck badly.

You said it...

I'm not sure anyone would confuse Jok's team with good.

We already had this conversation and you told me how bad Iowa's RPI sucks. So a week later I was mad that we lost to such a crappy PRI team in Texas. But then you came back and said RPI didnt matter once you get into that territory and Texas was good.

So to answer you question, I dont care anymore, Im burnt out on this subject.

It's a simple question, what is your favorite metric? You already said Iowa was a crap team so I'm just curious

Ponder these statistics for a minute, keeping in mind that Iowa has played 26 games.

1. Ellingson has made 16 shots inside the arc on the whole year. He has shot a total of 18 free throws. He has 0(!) blocks on the year and 10 total steals while generally guarding the 2nd shortest player on the team and the secondary ballhandler.

1. Bohannon has made 21 shots inside the arc on the year. He has shot a total of 32 free throws while being the team's primary ballhandler. He has 2 blocks on the year and 21 total steals on the year while generally guarding the shortest player on the team and the primary ballhandler.

These are extremely, extremely one-dimensional ballplayers to the extremest extremes.

I was talking about the four you had listed: Bohannon, Moss, Ellingson, McCaffery. They are all okay, serviceable, average players. Also, all very young.
Serviceable if they are playing for Simpson or your Alma Mater Coe.
