Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Personally, I think Iowa's speed killed us last month. Defensively, we couldn't keep up with their tempo.

With the addition of Garza and the loss of Jok, I don't see how Iowa can be improving.

Remember when Woody, Gessell, Clemons and Uthoff were sophs and we heard about what great things they were going to do over the next few years?

2 appearances in the Round of 32 their final 2 years, which had not happened for Iowa since the 90's so I will take it.

I do remember ISU fans saying that Iowa would never be able to replace Marble's production after he graduated. Then the next year, ISU fans saying that Iowa would never be able to replaces White's production after he graduated. Then after last year ended, ISU fans saying that Iowa would never be able to replaces Uthoff's production after he graduated. Now this year, ISU fans saying that Iowa will never be able to replace Jok's production after he graduates.

Who is going to replace Jok's production. Every year Fran has had a senior step up to replace that role, I don't see Dom Uhl being that guy

Who cares. You replaced the production and where did that get you? PIG's, epic late-season collapses and two tourney appearances in the past decade.

Iowa will be pretty dang good for 3-4 years to come. They are essentially going to have the make up of the good UNI teams of recent history (which is not a bad thing).

They will probably take over as the elite team in the state for that time period.
We'll see if they're the elite team, but I agree they'll have the composition of a UNI All-Star team. They're going to be very good.

I actually do realize it. They will be very good players, but also very young. I guess we will see.
I don't think our young guys will win the big 12 next year. I don't see how a 10 seed or 9 seed isn't unrealistic. Prohm has coached our best offensive team and now our best defensive team since the revival of basketball. I would trust Prohm turning around a young team faster than Fran.

It wont be one guy next year, rather a group of the younger players will make up the difference from losing Jok. Iowa is averaging 83 PPG this year, I would be shocked if that number dips below 80 PPG next year.

I think we will have a better PG and SF but that's 2 out of 5. I think SG could be a push.

Cook and Pemsl are impressive.

So you think they'll be better in the post, we'll be better on the perimeter and we have a better coach. Not sure how you think they will be better

Oh I agree with you in that regard. A high tournament seed is completely possible.

I also think we will learn the most about Prohm next year. Not many coaches have to replace their top 5 guys in one year.

Probably depends on what tempo they run. Their 83 PPG have been pretty unimpressive this year so far

Kind of like how Iowa fans said the following:

"Wait until next year when you guys don't have Royce White"
"You guys will be lost without Kane"
"you guys are going to miss Ejim and Hogue"

I think you get the point...

The difference between the 2 programs is one of the teams has found a way to avoid the set back year and the other hasn't. Don't get me wrong, we have some HUGE shoes to fill next year but with what we will return and what we have coming in plus a couple of grad transfers I don't see a huge step back at all. I'm not saying that we will be an NCAA tournament team next year but I wouldn't rule it out either.

They kicked the **** out of us with 4 freshman and a Senior.

I don't think our gap on the perimeter will be big enough to overcome them being better inside. Just my opinion.

Honest question....with how it sits now, who do you see starting for ISU next year?
