Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #5 seed

quote from Hawkeye Nation:

"Gessell and Woodbury are like that friend that crashes on your couch and it is cool for a day but then he stays for 4 years and can't make a layup."

That's pretty good.

Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #5 seed

Could definately see Iowa drop to a 7 seed..they have 2 bad losses now and haven't beaten a top 50 team since January. I mean aside from those very early Mich st wins and @Puride early without Valentine btw..Iowa hasn't beaten anyone worth a damn. How Iowa is still ranked is mind blowing honestly. They've been living off the MSU wins for 6 weeks. They won't be ranked come Monday that's for sure.

I hope they drop to a 7. I have this nagging feeling that they'll be a 6 or higher based on their post-slump record.

Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #5 seed

Karma?

Losing to a 24-6 #5 RPI team could be somewhat different than losing to 14-18 #155.

I'm excited about going for the 3-peat but I'm not going to lose sleep if we bow out the first game to a team going for a 1 seed.

Big 10 = over hyped by most media (ESPN, other blowhards) is the answer.

Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #5 seed

So is Iowa hoping they drop to #6 seed so they can still end up in Des Moines?

planned all along! :D

Seriously though, this team has done this for 4 years, I'm not really shocked about it anymore. Fairly optimistic in the next two classes coming in though.

Do you guys think it would be better for ISU to lose early in the Big 12 tournament for rest reasons?

You will need Jok to put up 50/game next year.

Better to lose? Only an Iowa fan can be this stupid.

Yeah, no clue how they will be next year, hopefully Moss pans out. Just fairly optimistic of some of the recruits the team will be built around for the next few years.

Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #5 seed

What does ISU have to gain from playing 3 days in a row? Please tell me, or are you "too stupid" to actually add to the conversation.
Kick your dog, go to sleep, you'll be okay.

Well, 2 years ago, we won the tournament, advanced to the sweet 16 and lost to the eventual national champs sans broken footed Georges. Last year, we won the tournament, and then laid a big fat egg in the first round to a 14 seed. I'm just going to guess the team, as well as the fans, prefer winning games than getting a few extra days rest.

Three wins and a trophy?

Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #5 seed

Sure we did but that team had some depth albeit backcourt. Only thing winning 2-3 games in this tourney would do is possibly go from a 4/5 seed to a 3 seed...so In That respect it would be beneficial but if we play 3 straight games and stay a 4/5 seed...4 really if we play that many then I'm not sure I want that for this team honestly. I def want to win tonight as that would prob solidify Isu as 4 seed without question.

I can link you to Georges' thoughts on that question...or summarize it:

"We play to win."

Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #5 seed

As much as I'm enjoying Iowa meltdown...ill tell u I'd rather be a 6 seed than 5 seed. As s 5 we will play mid major champ...Akron, little rock or VCU type. I'd rather be a 6 plsying winner of play in game or Oregon st. Type.

raw

"You play to win the game!"

Well, I know this is hard for an Iowa fan to comprehend, but.... Winning.
