Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #4 seed

Looks like both teams are five seeds unless they win their tourneys.

If Iowa loses opening round of the Big Ten tourney they will be a 6 or 7 seed. IMO If we lose first round we will be a 5 seed, beat OU we will be a 4 seed and if we win the Big 12 tourney we have a shot at a 3 seed.

That's pretty optimistic on your part.

If they win the Big 12 tourney they'd be adding three top 10 RPI wins. Add those to the ones they already have they'd easily have the most in the country.

If they do that..... Whow.

I'm fine with one win in KC, even zero is moderately okay. I'm just ready for teams outside of the best basketball conference.

I'm not talking about ISU possibly bumping up to a 3 seed (although with 10 losses that would be relatively unheard of (yes I know the crazy year this has been)).

I was going more for Iowa dropping down from an expected 5 seed to a 7 seed with 10 losses.

I'd say both teams have a lot of potential to move up to the 3/4 line, but basement is likely the 6 seed, IMO.

Iowa would lose to a terrible Minnesota or Illinois team. Palm has Iowa as a 6 seed now. Lose to one of those teams and you'd expect them to drop a line

Yep, anywhere from 7 to 3 seed is in play for Iowa. Anywhere from 6 to 3 is in play for ISU. Only thing that matters to Iowa is somehow getting back in the Des Moines discussion. Will need two wins for that to happen. I don't think it matters much for ISU what their seed is. They have proven they can play with anybody.

ISU isn't going to be worse than a 5 seed.

I don't think a 3 is in play for either. A 4 maybe, if they win their tournament. But at best a 4.

Iowa State will get a 5 with a loss to OU, that is their floor. Any number of wins will get ISU a 4. If they win the tournament there's a chance at a 3 but that depends just as much on how the other teams do around them.

ISU is currently a 5 and Iowa currently a 6 on Bracket Matrix. And they both are leaning toward the better seed (i.e. ISU is a 5 but much closer to a 4 than 6, and similarly Iowa much closer to a 5 than 7)
