Can't deny the UNI loss isn't pulling down our RPI.
No one has forgotten the miracle comeback in Ames. Iowa is a better team now, and has learned to put lesser opponents away and not coast in 2nd halfs. If you're confused who's better, please check any rankings or anyone else's opinion outside of Story County.
Using RPI Wizard on RPIforecast we're currently predicted to finish the season with an RPI of 19. Changing the UNI loss to a win puts our end of year prediction at 14, simply dropping the Coppin St and Chicago St games and keeping the UNI loss gives us an expected final RPI at 12.
In fairness- we won, at home in a ridiculous environment, because a POY candidate missed a tough game winning shot by about a quarter inch. We all thought it was in. A month ago I thought it was a fluke first half by Uthoff but he has continued to be unbelievable.
I wonder if Iowa fans remember the miracle comeback for the Iowa football team in JTS this fall.
Why do you think Iowa is better? It is not like ISU has fell off like UNI. Last time I checked they are doing very well.

How many Iowa fans have forgotten being a top 10 team in late January 2014 and playing your way out of the top 25 and into a play in game for an 11 seed? Would think that would be a fresh enough reminder that the season isn't over in January and things can go south pretty quick. I hope a lot of you keep running your mouths though and acting like you're an elite team that's head and shoulders above ISU. Will be that much more enjoyable when you come crashing back down to earth.
First off I would hardly consider coming back from only be down 7 a miracle comeback.
Second why do people think Iowa is better they are ranked higher, have a longer winning streak, the schedules to this point are fairly even, yes Iowa state won at Hilton, but a one point home win doesn't mean you are obivsly better, prolly means both schools are about equal. Both teams a great this year enjoy it!
Where did I say Iowa was the better team.. I did say the teams are prolly about equal!!Typical Iowa fan, when your team loses the other team got lucky, when they win it is because they are a better team. People think Iowa because they hit a hot streak as of late, and ISU struggled just a little bit.
Just a side note. I think these ratings re RPI should exempt two or three games. Teams like Coppin State and others fund a large portion of their budget with the guarantees they get for playing bigger teams. With such a disadvantage to scheduling these teams, it will be harder for these lower tier teams to get a payday by playing a P5 team. IMHO, let every team play a couple of these teams and drop the two lowest RPI teams from the calculations. In the past, teams like those in the Mtn West have gamed this by scheduling NAIA and Div II teams and raised their RPI by not playing lower rated Div I.Two home wins vs. RPI 300+ is "pulling down" our RPI far more than a neutral court loss to an RPI top 150 team is. Once again when you get to that point of being in the top 15 of the RPI with at least 5 more games remaining against others in the Top 15 there's really no way to get "dragged down". You get rewarded far more for playing high RPI teams than getting "dragged down" by playing a team in the top 150 on a neutral court.
My advice is to sell your NCAA Tourney tickets in DSM now. Good money to be made....before the crash.
No way. Iowa and Kansas have great shots at landing in DSM plus people will be willing to dig a little deeper once they know where their teams are playing. You will make more money waiting. Really glad I elected to buy the max 8 tickets. Nothing better than gouging KU and Iowa fans.
So gouging Iowa and KU fans if there teams make it as a #1 seed to DM is better than actually watching ISU as a #1 seed in DM?
