Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Is UNI better than UNC also?

It is clear UNI can play a few good games a year. It is also clear they are not very good right now. Iowa and ISU are good teams and both played a good game in Ames. The better team won.

No, and they're not better than ISU. That's kind of my point.

Your point is dumb though. When putting ISU and Iowas wins and losses next to each other, they are very even so in that case, if a head to head game happens, it becomes the tie breaker. ISU won thus, Iowa needs to get over it and finish off their overrated, bad basketball conference opponents to give us a better win in the end. I know Iowa fans have a hard time understand how winning and losing works, but ISU beat Iowa. You should just put it in your calendar every year so you don't forget the day Iowa loses to ISU.

ISU beat Iowa fair and square. That was about as tough of a loss as I've ever seen. I think a lot of ISU fans would be saying the same thing as Iowa fans if the roles were reversed.

As far as winning against an in state rival go....Delicious.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

UNI imploding kills ISU's RPI

I knew the ISU game was their superbowl and they'd suck after that, but didn't expect it to go 5 weeks of suckiness

When you play 3 top 10 teams twice nothing kills your RPI.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

10 pages of this crap already. Oh boy.

This. I'm not going to read the whole thing, but has anyone pointed out the sheer stupidity of projecting tournament seeding in late January? It means nothing right now.

ISU loss the best thing to ever happen to Iowa. the Hawks are now either dominating, coming from behind, and/or closing out games

Iowa didn't do that during Fran's first 4-5 seasons.

Iowa winning helps ISU's RPI, but that ISU loss to UNI is offsetting and killing ISU's RPI......UNI has gone down the drain

Huh??? This doesn't even make sense. At any rate when you play in the Big 12 2 OOC games aren't swinging the needle as wildly as you seem to think it is. I have a hard time believing that we are getting KILLED by the UNI game. If I had to speculate I'd say just playing against Chicago St. has a worse effect on our RPI than losing to UNI.

UNI is a 4 seed (says our resident genius hawk fan analyst/footballcoach/recruiter/scout)

No one has forgotten the miracle comeback in Ames. Iowa is a better team now, and has learned to put lesser opponents away and not coast in 2nd halfs. If you're confused who's better, please check any rankings or anyone else's opinion outside of Story County.

Meh, who really cares at this point. Both teams have a lot of season left to position themselves to make a deep run in March. This could be a special season for both squads. Sit back and enjoy.

Prior to Christmas, UNI had beaten UNC & Iowa State. Safe to say their RPI was very high for a mid-major at the time.

UNI's current RPI on an ESPN website was #147. and dropping

2 halves to every mbb game.

Iowa had a miracle 1st half.

ISU outscored Iowa in the 2nd half.

ISU has done this to other teams over and over throughout the last 5 seasons

So UNI's not being as good as we thought is not helping our RPI as much as we thought. That's a far cry from "Killing" our RPI. It's hard to say that your RPI is getting killed in any way when we're #13 and probably going up win or lose for the next 3 games.

Just playing Chicago St and Coppin St hurt our RPI more than losing to UNI. Either way we're top 15 in RPI, nothing is really "dragging it down".

Jamba isn't right about much, but is he halfway right on this. Losing to UNI will be looked at as a bad loss for both UNC and ISU come committee time. So while he is wrong about it "killing us", he is right, it is a bad loss.
