Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Find me one Hawkeye that had claimed the big ten to be strong this year?

Iowa's schedule had been strong. Big difference.

Wasn't directed at you personally, I work with a lot of Hawkeye fans who think I'm an idiot for saying the B1G is down so far this year.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

I'd bet the farm that if Iowa made a #1 seed, theyd be the first to lose the 1/16 matchup. It's just the hawkeye way.

I don't think Mad Fran is bad enough to lose a 1/16 matchup in Des Moines. Not going to happen.

Sound like you work with dolts. I'm sorry.

Obligatory: or maybe you need to get a job at somewhere else other than McDonalds.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Funny so many Iowa fans I know wanted to fire Fran after the Augustana loss, and fire Ferentz exactly one year ago.

You bandwagoners are like a fungus......keep creeping back as if you never left.......

Can't speak for others as Kirk was most definitely on the hot seat at the end of last year, but I think most fans were willing to give him at least this year. If things hadn't of changed, then he was going to be gone. I don't think KF would have gotten another year going 7-5 or 6-6 with the schedule they had.

I haven't heard of Fran ever being on the hot seat since he's been here. Considering what he took over he has done an amazing job.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

My favorite part in all of this is all the hawk fans that told us they were an average team a month ago, what a difference a few b1g conference games can make.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Hawks are a good team and are every bit as likely as ISU to do well in the NCAA this year.

There....can we close this thread now.

This. No need for a ******* match between fans. Who cares, just enjoy your seasons and support your team. I think both teams are pretty kick-***. **** Kansas and **** Nebraska. How about you?

What if Kirk goes back to 7 or 6 wins in 2016 or 2017?

Will Fran leave for greener pastures after this season if a high caliber job opens up?

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Big difference between losing to a national team who qualified for the Rio Olympics this summer, and losing to a team who went on to lose against a team called Washburn a week after beating your team.

Venezuela did jump ahead of the powerful Tunisian team in the world rankings so you may have a point :twitcy:

What if I sprout wings and fly? Aren't these fairly self-evident answers. With a 12-0 regular season in 2015, Ferentz basically now gets to leave Iowa if and when he wants to, barring something weird happening. If he wins 7 or 6 games this year, there will be grumblings but his seat won't be warm in the least.

If Fran leaves for greener pastures, then he does. He would leave the program in much better shape than when he found it. But what are the greener pastures that will be open to him? Notre Dame and Villanova would be the jobs I would think might be of interest to him, but Brey seems like a lifer at Notre Dame and Wright doesn't appear to be going anywhere. The blue bloods of the game (such as Kentucky if Calipari goes to the NBA) aren't getting a coach from Iowa. Not selling that to their fan base.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

I haven't read the entire thread because I can't imagine where this has gone, but there's a lot of season left to have a 16+ page thread about this already. Iowa will be in the dance, probably the highest seed since 2006 (or before?). We'll see how it all ends up.

Seriously? Most Iowa fans I know were pretty tired and upset with Fran last year when ISU went into Carver and had them down by about 25 pts and ended up winning by 15, while Georges was blowing kisses to the Iowa student section.

They did not like him kicking chairs at players, kicking laptops off scoring tables, getting tossed out of games, etc. Of course some knuckle dragging Iowa fans loved this behavior, but not most.

I would say Fran was definitely in danger of being gone soon had they not won an NCAA game last year.

Lol this is one of my favorites ITT.

Friends in your head don't count. Fran has never been close to being in danger or wanted out by the fans.

You must not have been around the message boards after the UNI loss last year. I understand that isn't the voice of the fan base but there were a lot of people questioning him after that game considering ISU blew them out in Carver the week before

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

There was a thread full of mouthbreathers on HN who wanted Fran gone after the ISU game this year.

Probably not a great idea to generalize an entire fan base from 10 idiots on a message board.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

This year Clones are capable of beating anyone else in the country.
