So you're not concerned about the sportsmanship of a future hawkeye player?
If the hawks don't make it the NCAA tournament when he's a player, will be rip on a smaller conference school that got an at large bid over them because of their "level of competition"?
If he tells hawk fans on twitter to "suck a fat one" will that not be a concern?

He is 16, so no. 16 year olds normally aren't too mature and do and say dumb **** all the time.
I am, if the 15 year old should know better then the 20 year old should certainly know better.
Seriluslyhopp, their coach is the epitome of terrible sportsmanship. Do you think they even care about that?
The point being made is that Iowa State earned the seed this year specifically because of their performance against a stacked big 12 slate, because we basically crapped the bed in the noncon.
The fact you can't understand this is frankly bizarre.
Considering he is 15/16 I think this could very well be a valuable learning experience for him. At least I hope it is. He is still very much in his formative years. Character/sportsmanship is built not inherent. Young kids say/do/tweet stupid things all the time. The key is that they learn from their mistakes and correct said behavior.

It isn't a concern at all. Dumb to say, but adults around here spout dumber stuff than this on a daily basis, myself included.
I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing for Joe Smoldt, but when I went to google him, I was amazed how quickly his name popped up when all I had typed was Joe. Probably lots of stuff from the likes of Rick Brown ripping him for winning an award.

The really stupid thing is the McCafferys didn't have to look like asses by attacking Joe Smoldt's award, the Hawkeye media was going to do that for them and they wouldn't have to look so entitled.
Yeah, a guy that lives in a small town can't be a good basketball player without moving to a metro? He scored 30 points per game this year, it's not like he sucked.
