Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Pretty awesome that Jordan Bohannon smashed Monte Morris freshman stats in points and assists. Very high ceiling for that young man.

I know this is a troll post, but I thought JorBo played pretty good this year for what the team asked him to do. He played a lot better than what the posters in this thread will give him credit for.

Too bad JorBo wasn't playing behind Deandre Kane, like MM did his freshman year. Gee, wouldn't you love it if the hoks were that deep?

Trade freshman Monte for freshman JorBo and Iowa is probably an 8 or 9 seed, bummer for them. ... and as long as we're talking about hypotheticals, take Tyler Ulis off the Suns this year and Iowa is probably as big of a favorite as Xavier to win the whole damn thing.

Not a troll, just stating facts that Bohannon had a terrific season.

and averaged more points and assists than Morris as a freshman. What is so hard about this?

Ok, you know he ended up playing starter minutes by the end of his freshman year.
That team was 28-8, won the conference tournament, went to the sweet 16 (beating Carolina without the heart and soul)

Jorbo played on a crap team.

But you knew that.

Monte set a good bar for his play especially being a 5th option on a tourney team and then built him self to AA incrementally every year since. Improving on his weaknesses (size and shooting) along the way. Different roles result in baseline stat differences but MM quality of play and team results were much better.

I don't see J-Bo ceiling much higher than his freshman year. EIU fans will want him out in a couple of years as they realize they've already seen his best. There are already multiple Iowa fans begging Fran to recruit a PG over him after J-Bo's past year.
Right along the lines with Iowa Players Coach and Program. Peak early from low expectations, get fans on bandwagon, then disappoint, call for heads.
Rinse and repeat, but hey "the future is bright".

He was a main guy that benefited from jok being the primary focus of the defense.

He had some good moments, but they were all scoring related. Can he consistently get past his defender when jok isn't there? He isn't nearly the athlete Gessell is, and his stru

I remember it like yesterday, early season game, Jorbo goes for 20 and 6 and they lose by 9 to Omaha.

Is he in any way tied to that outcome?
I think maybe he was, they got in the lane at will and kicked out for target practice.

I agree with most of this. I wish Iowa could find a suitable PG, but unfortunately it looks like they are stuck with JorBo for at least one more year. Interested to see what Wieskamp ends up at position wise and what he is capable of doing.

I looked into this for curiosity sake: So 'Jorbo' averaged 1 more assist (and 2 more turnovers) and 4 points than a 2 guard who didn't start until about midway through the season who was playing with 3 All-Americans.

You're right. High fives and hustle all around.
