Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

If they aren't a lock for a #1 seed nobody is. They have hands down looked the best of any team in college basketball right now.

I just think that UNC is more of a lock than OU. ACC is down this year and UNC will have an easier time of getting to a 27-5 type record than OU. I do think OU gets a #1 seed when it is all said and done, just that they have a much harder path to get there.

Let's all remember there are 4 #1 seeds, thus the debates shouldnt be between two teams (UNC and OU) but the 4,5,6 and 7 teams jumping them. Both UNC and OU are battling for the number 1 overall seed right now. A lot can change but UNC isn't looking great recently (having a dog fight with VT last Sunday) either and not as good as OU with Hield shooting lights out (impressive double digit win at #19 Baylor).
OU is one in both polls for a reason and is currently the favorite to win the B12 regular season that alone puts them as a 1 in the S-Curve on 1/27.

yeah, a lot of bball left for sure and with the way this season has been going who knows how it will shake out. This might be a year where no #1 seed makes the final four.

I get that feeling too. Should be one of the better tourneys.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Not sold on them because of how streaky they can be and their schedule. They could easily lose another 5 games.

Streaky? OU is the most consistent team in the country's best conference.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Meaning let's take a team like George mason they are in a crap conference. But let's say their occ is 13 games 9 of which are vs the top 25. George mason goes undeafted. Do they deserve a #1 or because they are in a crap conference they don't get one????

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Sorry, that was terrible english. I meant you have to take into consideration a teams out of conference games as well. A team shouldn't be punished because of the bottom feeders in their league.

Yeah they should. When you play in a weak conference you should get punished

Of course the team should be punished because of bottom feeders.

If the worst team in the B10 is better than the worst team in the B12, I would hope for your sake that your win over that B10 team bottom feeder counts more than ISU's win over that B12 bottom feeder.

That's not being punished. That's your SOS. Keep in mind this is in response to someone posting conference RPI rating. My point was you shouldn't be evaluated based on conference RPI. A team should be evaluated based on who they play.

Let's say a team in an actual conference goes undefeated in the non-con but loses 2 games in their conference and loses in the final of their conf. tourney...do they not deserve that same 1 seed over George Mason? That's kind of the point of the RPI, to suss that stuff out with actual numbers.

You posted conference RPI. Let's say for example Maryland had gone undefeated in regular season and lost 1 game in the Big Ten. Are you saying they wouldn't deserve the #1 spot because of the rest of the Big 10 sucked. Even though Maryland would have taken care of their business?
