What happened to the idea of SJ playing some Men's BBall?? I thought this was part of the recruitment process. I don't see him on the roster or anything. I was just curious.

In my opinion I only hope that Sed takes this offseason away from everything but school, football, and the weight room. I could see him possibly playing for mcdermott his sophomore year at a cut 200 or 205, but until he gets up to that i dont think he'd be doing himself any favors of juggling basketball for the next 4 months..

Chizik was asked about this on a recent call in show. He didn't mention Johnson in particular, but said there would be absolutely no involvement in other sports during the football season. He said he wouldn't prevent anybody from playing another sports, mentioned track in particular, but it would not be encouraged and football training would be expected to continue year round regardless. I wouldn't get my hopes up of this happening. He wants his players as focused on football as possible.

If he can contribute to the bball team I hope he does so. More competition and activity isn't going to do anything but make him better on the football field.

Goodluck to him after the football season.

I have questions about how good he is at BB and if he could contribute? McDermott has a fairly full roaster right now, I'm sure he'll take another if he's good enough, but that is the question.h

I'd like to see him concentrate on gaining strength and weight.

Seems like the top receivers in college football have the ability to break the first one-on-one tackle after the reception and pick up big yards. Sed hasn't been able to do that yet.

If he can add the strength to break tackles after the catch, that will be the difference on whether he ends up being a good receiver or a great receiver.

Sed needs to focus on football and the weight room, for the future of the football team. The future of the basketball team is looking jut fine.

Since he has a football game today, why would you expect to see anything other than football until the season is over.

Id live to see Sed play basketball. Would be nice to have a little more athleticism on the court.

I actually would perfer him to just play football, but I obviously don't make that decision and was just curious about it.

If he played basketball I think his scholarship would have to come out of the bball limit not football. Didn't we go through that with Andy Stensrud years ago?

Football season is never over for the players. They may not play games year round but they will be back in the weight room in 2 weeks. It would be hard to put weight on when you practice BB. One sport plus school is a lot for college kids to handle. Sure he wanted to play 2 sports coming in but now that he has been here and sees what really needs to go into being good at one sports, odds are he may change his mind about playing 2 sports.

Playing basketball didn't hurt Charlie Ward and Julius Peppers football careers...

When you're a Heisman-type football player (Ward), and a freak of nature (Peppers), then you can do things like this.

Sed has shown he really needs to focus on football and improve his game. Ward and Peppers were some of the best college football players when they were playing,so they had more leverage with their coaches and also could afford to play other sports due to being high impact players.
