SDW is transferring

I watched the locker room video of Monte and Niang (i think) after the win at CHA and noticed SDW looked kind of sad in the background. Hope he finds some playing time elsewhere and he had great size and athleticism where I think he could easily be a 15-18 ppg scorer for another program. Sad to see him leave, but definitely do not blame him and hope he is successful. Best of luck and we will all cheer for you!

Good basketball player on a team with a lot of good basketball players. He would have started on some Cyclone teams in the past. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.

Sherron you have been a class act, hard worker and an excellent representative of Iowa State University. I understand your desire to transfer to another school, but know that you will always be a part of the cyclone family and we all will cheer you on and wish you nothing but success in your future endeavors. Great things are waiting for you I believe that to be true. Best wishes.

I'm not sure why him redshirting matters at all when transferring. Regardless of if he had used his redshirt or not, he'd have 1.5 years left of eligibility.

Anyways, best of luck to him. Just didn't work out for him here.

I knew this was coming when he wasn't even getting garbage minutes the last week+.
Best of luck to him.

@TravisHines21: Iowa State's Sherron Dorsey-Walker plans to transfer, a source tells Ames Tribune. @GoodmanESPN first to report.

He'll only get three seasons of being eligible to play now instead of four.

@TravisHines21: Also a reminder: Mid-year transfers do not open up scholarships. ISU still won't have a scholarship to give until this summer.

No, if he had a RS year he'd sit out a year and STILL have 2.5 years to play. You aren't eligible for a year after transferring, if you have a RS year you don't lose that year of eligibility. You get 5 years to play 4 seasons.

I figured this would happen when we had 25-point leads in our recent games and he still never saw the floor. Plus, the writing was on the wall as soon as we saw Custer get in the game against Southern but not SDW. Custer will not play meaningful minutes in conference and if SDW is behind him then it wasn't hard to see that SDW would ride the bench the rest of the year.

Didn't SDW score the most points in that exhibition game?

Because he sits a year wherever he goes (assuming D1). So it's better if he had not red-shirted here. He could have played at ISU in year 1. Not that would have. But he could. If you are going to red-shirt a year best it be the year you transfer where you absolutely aren't allowed to play at all.
