Sage!

I remember hearing some NFL "expert" talking about how good the Texans could be next year if Schaub could stay healthy all year.

Sage can throw the deep ball and is just mobile enough to be a threat. Being 6-4 also helps. He has a very good future as he is getting better each year.

You felt compelled to make this your first post, why??

Maybe you should stay away from the namecalling and post some facts to shore up your opinion of why we would have been better without him.

I'm gona leave you guys alone now. You, Sage fans, are in pretty good company, and I'm certainly not trying to convert anyone. Just couldn't ignore thread titled "Sage!"

Oh no! Not Sage! He was terrible. ISU had QBs way better than him when he was here. We could have been going to bowl games every year if that cry baby had on the bench... Sorry everyone... Can you tell I never liked Sage.

He only led us to a 9 win season and the first bowl win in school history, but your right, he sucks :skeptical:

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to be so negative (although how could "oh no not sage!" sound possitive). I have a chronic irriation related to Sage. I was at ISU from 99-03 and many of my friends were on the football team so the cry baby remark was less about his ability to throw a football than about my perception of his character.

In reality Sage was fine, especially on a team with no history of winning. No one blamed him for losses but acted like he was a gift when he handed the ball to Davis or threw it close enough to a receiver to leap a tall building and catch it. ISU was great for Sage I just think D-Walk or Gerrin Scott(pre back surgery) could have each done as much or more for the Cyclones than Sage did, given the chance.

Wow! Are you sure you're not a closet Hawkeyes fan? Their best QB is always the guy riding the bench.

I hope no one posts something like this about Cameron Lee...I'd venture to guess you would not like that too much.

Ooooh 22, Welcome back to Mod-dom. Was there some sort of program you were sent to in order to get back your license to Mod? =)

It's no surprise that you may indeed have had friends on the team at the time who didn't support their starting QB. There were certainly too many reports coming out at that time of guys who had their own agendas that didn't support the team concept.

What I have trouble with is your claim that D-Walk would have done better than Sage. I don't recall him being a highly pursued recruit and he appeared to be in over his head during the ample opportunities he was given to perform as a QB. Most of the reports I heard gave credit to Sage for stepping up after his So year and being a leader in the off-season workout program. Who knows how Scott would have turned out if he had not been bitten by the injury bug. It's a stretch, however, to believe that even a healthy RSFR Garrin would have been more effective than a SR Sage with the Insight.com team.

I remember when D walk came in for Sage in a game...and promptly threw a pick (maybe KSU Sage's Jr. season?)

There is a reason D Walk was moved to LB his senior year and there is a reason Sage is still playing QB at the age of 30 AND making $2.6M/year for it.

Be glad Sage came to ISU. In 95-96 when he was recruited, ISU was AWFUL. He had plenty of other offers from other D1 schools but chose ISU and was one of the best QB's we've had.

Point taken :notworthy:

BTW while I'm glad I have given you guys so much to talk about, I have to admit my original posting was intened to be a bit of a joke. (Read my postings about Cameron "bestest player in the whole wide world... please don't feed him till he explodes" I'm just not that serious)

I posted it to be spotted by a few people with whom my anti-support of Sage has been a long running joke. I forgot that college folks are up at all hours and would read it imediately. I thought with the second post (more outlandish than the first) you would write me off as some kind of heretic. My bad. Guess I misjudged how devoted cyclone fans can be.

Please accept my heartfelt appologies for whatever stress I may have caused the Sage fans of the world.

That said, I'd not be above calling Cameron a cry baby either if he acts like one (and you can hold me to that)!

On that note.........Sage please come to Minnesota so our long national nightmare can be over..........

Did your friends on the football team look like these guys?

If so.... You probably needed to hang out with a better crowd. Don't see how players complained so much being on a winning team. Doesn't make sense to me.
